Rudy at range?

This isn't the 00's or 90's. Achieving maximum weight is no longer optimal for big men.

I agree that Rudy wouldn't need much more than 15-20 pounds. Kevin Garnett comes to mind as maintaining a light build throughout his career. He is listed on Wiki at 6'11" and 240 pounds. Rudy is listed at 7'1" and 245 pounds.

Rudy isn't 245 lbs.

He came in as a rookie at 237.5 with 4.4% body fat. Weight listing are spotty as teams don't always send the information for updates. These sites just run previous numbers back. I'd be pretty shocked if Gobert wasn't playing at 250 lbs this past season, at the lightest. Probably closer to 260.

Rudy with a range, Dante with a handle... oh me oh my...

Here's Dante taking tips about how he can win ROY next year:

Defensive footwork on the perimeter should be the area Rudy puts the most work into. He has no fundamentals out there in addition to being super long and awkward.

No fundamentals? Awkward?

You joking?

Do people really think Rudy looked comfortable guarding the perimeter? It’s as if we didn’t have an entire series where he got torches out there. Two seasons in a row.

Those are very difficult matchups for everyone, not just centers. But Rudy can definitely improve his fundamentals and be more successful than he has.

I like that this thread has devolved into a discussion essentially about the size of Rudy's culo.

No seven footer looks comfortable guarding CP, Harden, Dame, Steph's of the world. Even the best perimeter defending bigs (Capela, Draymond) get burned. Rudy's defensive fundamentals and footwork are elite. If you want the advantages of an elite rim protector, that is the tradeoff.

It's similar to critiquing Donovan for an inability to guard Anthony Davis in the post. Every player has flat spots.

He didn't get torched. What are you talking about?
