Utah Jazz 2018-19 Championship Bus CHOO CHOO

And they haven't lost in the first round since Kobe and Pau Gasol whupped them in 2009.
There was definitely a Spurs series in there somewhere. Favors was really young and played well, we made the playoffs last day of the season by beating the Suns.

If memory serves.

That was the 2011-12 season, it was a shortened season due to the lockout. We snuck in as an 8 seed with a record of 36 and 30 and got swept by the Spurs.

Ya so I'm rooting for rockets (don't think we can get #3) to keep winning so they get #3, rooting for Denver to win and GS to lose so Denver gets #1 and GS #2, and rooting for trailblazers, Spurs, clippers, and okc to lose. I'm hoping the jazz end up as 4th, and we get blazers, Spurs, or clippers at #5.
So I guess I would be ok with Spurs and clippers winning but I don't want them to pass us so I would rather just get the blazers in round 1 and nuggets in round 2.

Golden St is going to be the 1 seed y'all. If we can't get to 3 then I hope we are 6 or 7. Being 4 or 5 is not the move with a 1 seed GS.

Of course Houston waits until April to be playing their best basketball. Jazz need to avoid the 6th seed at all costs. I'd much rather they finish 7th and play Denver in the first round than Houston.

The elephant in the room for Denver is Jokic's conditioning - he looks slow and worn down at times. He was getting abused by Capela last night. They might be in line for a first round upset.

I've always thought Doc Rivers was a bit overrated as a coach but not anymore - he's lost 3 all-stars and Tobias Harris in the last two years and he's still somehow putting a playoff team on the floor.

I think rockets will end up with 3rd seed. we will be 4th seed

I hope the Rockets flip with Portland, but....

The Rockets have road games against the Clippers and OKC, and it's likely they will lose at least one of those.

Portland has two games left against Denver, which they will likely lose given the Jokic-Kanter matchup at center. The rest of their games are against lottery teams and I think the backcourt of Lillard and McCollum are good enough to win all of those, even with Kanter playing center.

So, by my reckoning, Portland and Houston will end the season tied, which means Portland will be seeded 3rd and Houston 4th, because of the Blazers winning the series matchup. Bad news for the Jazz if we hold on to 5th.

6 against Houston would be horrible.
I would rather win round 1 and lose to GS in round 2 than lose round 1

It's looking like 7th is the best place for us to finish, but the races for 5th-8th are just too close to see how we can get to 7, avoid 6, and keep from falling to 8. If we could guarantee 3 more losses for Portland, I'd say we hang on for dear life to 5, but I'm afraid the chance of Houston ending at 4 is way too high.

Meh, given all of the uncertainty, it really looks like the sensible path is to try and win every game and forget about seeding.

Agreed. Just go for home court and the highest seed possible.
We are too good and our schedule too easy, might as well go for it. Besides there is a chance at the 3 spot still

That’s the spirit brother, just aim for the highest seeding and go from there. We’ve given it to the Warriors a few times during regular season games and any playoff win against them would just make it all that sweeter.

Tonight I'm rooting for:
Hawks over blazers (Hawks at home and seem to still be trying to win. Quite possible)
Nuggets over thunder. (decent chance though the game is at OKC and nuggets on a back to back)
Wolves over warriors (unlikely)
Jazz over wizards (cause duh)
And pacers over celtics

NBA.com not showing that we clinched a playoff spot yet when it’s mathematically impossible for the Kings to catch us..

I do not acknowledge the famine years. Its like JarJar and Star Wars ...it just never happened.

For me Jazz history has five eras. It starts with Frank Layden, then the young Statues, the Golden era, Jerry's greatness then jumps right to Quin and a New Hope.

Looks like we are projected to finish 5th in a 1st round matchup with Portland at 4. Winner gets rewarded(?) to face GSW. I would have loved to face Denver but its not to be.
