Jazz front runner for Conley

we aren't winning that championship next season with Conley/Gobert/Mitchell I can tell you that much. there'd still be a chance for the conference final or maybe the finals depends on other Western team's off season acquisitions(lot of big IFs need to occur in our favors). but we ain't beating the Raptors.

I think we could. Also you are assuming Kawhi is still in Toronto and everyone on that team is healthy. **** happens.

There is no way Toronto would have beat GS this year if they are healthy. But here we are...

I don’t hate him.

And how did losing Exum hurt us? He’s bad at basketball.

Exum was solid when he played this year and was a big help. He is not bad at basketball he just cant stay healthy. Exum has always been a very good defender which is 50% of the game.

Fine dont hate him just unreasonably blame him for everything wrong with the team.

cool so let's not try

We can compete with any team in the league after we retool our weak areas.

Raptors are beatable, they just got some favorable outcomes.

It's this type of mentality that has kept us shackled from winning a championship. Our desire is to stay competitive, yet we forsake the requirements/sacrifices/risks needed to get to the next level. We must embrace change in order to get there. What you are suggesting is just more of the same that adds to more mediocrity and early playoff exits. I'm telling you now a few more of these early playoff eliminations will have Gobert and Mitchell looking for other teams. What you are suggesting isn't convincing them to stay.
We over pay for washed up players too often. If we didn't over pay for Korver last year would our season ended any different? The Cleveland flips Burks for Marquese Chriss, Brenden Knight, and a first rounder.

K well he’s never posted a positive VORP or box +/- (both offense and defense) for a season, and his win shares are one of the lowest on the team, even minutes-adjusted.

As or more importantly, he doesn’t look like a good basketball player either. Because he isn’t.

Furthermore, you’re going to make this big case about Favors working contingent on spacing then suggest Exum is a piece to our puzzle? That doesn’t jive at all.

The Raptors that almost didn’t make the ECF? The Raptors who didn’t have a real chance less than a year ago?

Who’s on the Raptors next year?
again? are you trying to make any kind of comparison between us and the Raptors? like 10 other people who have attempted in this thread?

DON'T.

if anything, we are the complete opposite of the Raptors

willing to swing for the fence by trading away their franchise's best player ever to get someone of MVP caliber, instead of taking ZERO risk by resigning everyone while being as passive as you possibly could in FA?

actually utilize their late first round and second round draft picks to get quality role players/supporting cast who can contribute in big ways, instead of burning them for cash/roster fillers?

oh, please don't try to compare the Kawhi trade to the Conley trade. it's even worse.

Exum sucks, he was a mistake . End of story

I feel like our team needs another young player to get excited about. Somebody who we feel like is Donovan's wingman for the next decade.

I don't know who that is. Is is somebody we draft? Is it Russell? Randle? Rozier? Brogdon? Winslow? I don't freaking know. I just feel like we are at that place. Yes, Conley would be great for the next year to few years, but if we do what we've been doing in the 1st/2nd round, I think the fan base gets even more disgruntled and impatient.

I think we need an exciting splash, and I don't even know exactly who that would be.

Royce is also improving and Ingles seems to be falling off. He will be 32 next year. Maybe Ingles bounces back but he looked awful in the playoffs. 6 ppg on 32% shooting. I hope he gets back to 17/18 form but I am not sure that will happen.

Joe had one bad playoff series and suddenly he's falling off? Donovan and Rudy also played pretty poorly, are they falling off too? Ingles averaged career highs in points and assists last year and was still one of our best 3 point shooters while leading the entire team in plus/minus.

What? Your reading comprehension is embarrassing.

He had a career high in ppg but on the worst shooting than he has had in the previous 2 years, he just took more shots than he ever has.

He is still a solid player. But it concerning that he dropped off from the previous season. I hope its not a trend and its a fluke. But I think Royce is going to continue to improve and carve into his playing time a bit. I think that will help his efficiency.

He led the entire team in plus/minus and averaged a career high in assists as well, it could be argued last year was the best season of his career.

If we could somehow get him after clearing the deck, and only sending Exum and #23, that is amazing.

I ain’t holding my breath. But my preference is shifting to Conley over Harris because there is a path to Conley AND ~$14 million in cap.

it takes SO MUCH MORE than just a Conley trade to build a championship contending team. Raptors was already the best Eastern Conference team in the regular season before last summer. then the Kawhi deal happened. we are just so much behind in terms of team building that it is truly beyond my comprehension that someone would think we'd stand a chance against them by just acquiring THE Mike Conley. Plus the team that almost beat them in the second round of the playoffs? they had Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris as their 3rd and 4th best players and swept us in the regular season.
