News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

So, Lindsey telling him he wasn’t a max player was respectful?

When he asked for a trade to Boston the summer before he’s a FA and was told no, that was respectful?

Getting booed when he was drafted was respectful?

What has Utah/Utah fans done to earn his respect?

Good lord.

-Lindsey offered him the max, what are you talking about?
-He never asked for a trade to Boston. In fact, when he was asked by media he continually said that Utah was his top priority.
-Getting booed- Yep it was disrespectful and it happens to a lot of draft picks and has happened to many past All Stars. It disrespectful as ____, and is part of the NBA. Your going to get booed, maybe you and Hayward should quit crying and get over it.
-Utah fans are sitting here 2 years after he left, with threads crying about how he should be on our team. Never seen that kind of respect given for a guy that didn't even average 16 ppg and 4 apg for a team. For a while I remember threads titled, "Hayward is God" on this site. Quite an attribute to someone who not only DOESN'T walk on water, but breaks his leg in half against an invisible defender.
He hasn't earned my respect. I only respect the juggernauts of the NBA. I have no respect for marshmallows. I only hope his torso is the next thing to break in half.

Or Horford....

A. Sherrod Blakely: A team to keep an eye on in the Al Horford sweepstakes is the Brooklyn Nets, league source says. The #Nets are a team on the rise, Al’s close ties to head coach Kenny Atkinson and the team’s cap space mentioned as the main reasons.

Probably a dumb question but can a team offer a bunch of guys a contract when free agency opens up and take whoever said yes first?
Like could the jazz offer Russell, Harris, and kemba all at the same time on day one and sign whoever says yes first?

We could verbally offer as many as we want. As far as submitted on paper, I would guess it's only final when signed.

That would probably really be frowned upon by agents, players and the league though.

That’s a big number. And in a Conley trade we’d be giving salary back. Are we sure we wouldn’t have anything left over to use if we got him?

This stuff confuses the hell out of me.

If we keep Favors then no. But if we waive Favors then yes we would still have money after trading for Conley.

I thought free agent negotiations couldn't happen before June 30th. What are these "talks" that dissolved between Horford and the Celtics? Are the rules different if it's your own free agent? Or if you're the Celtics?

Boston media speculating on Horford. Story is he has a 4-year 100 million offer.

Boston media believes it is from Brooklyn because Horford and Kyrie are close.

Dallas talking heads claim Mavericks have offered the 4/100 to Horford because it matches their timeline.

Please be Brooklyn, please be Brooklyn. . .

I've read other reports out of Boston claiming that it is a Western Conference team. Sacramento or Dallas make the most sense

I agree with Catchall. Boston might complain now but they are fortunate to get off Horford at 33 or even 25. And 4 years is insane.
