What's new

So Harden,Eric Gordon, and CJ McCollum withdraw from Team USA

Teams like Serbia, Australia will give this team a lot of trouble because they play together regularly. Don’t expect the talent level in the current US team to have an easy time at this World Cup

Oh no doubt. I was only talking about the talent level. I wasn't saying the games would be easy. The US is gonna have to fight to win.

You guys know NBA players play ball.. year round, right? Like, it's their job.

If Don weren't with Team USA, he'd be playing in elite runs elsewhere and he'd still be at risk of injury. Ever heard of Rico Hines' runs?

Yeah, I've heard that guy has the runs a lot, and they're intense.

So Bradley Beal has now dropped out

At this rate Spida will have a pretty big role at the 2 guard spot.

I'm just going to cheer for Donovan and our other guys participating and not worry about injuries. You can't completely prevent injuries no matter what you do. We just gotta hope for the best tbh.
Sure. But Gobert and Ingles should be on load management/minutes restriction even if they didn’t play in this thing.

Mitchell is going to have to carry a huge burden this year if only because he’s the only serious player with young, good, non-giant legs on the team. I could see Royce playing a surprisingly big role for the team this year for that reason as well. Conley/Gobert/Ingles/Bogdanovic should be moth-balled whenever feasible. The Jazz should really just try to destroy teams whenever possible if only for that reason.

One thing to keep in mind is Donovan only averaged 33 mpg last year and the year before. Even with the lack of offensive depth those years, injuries to PGs, being the only one with legitimate #1 option talent, Quin was good about not packhorsing him. Otherwise, I would suspect we'll see some load management as well for our big four/five (if counting Ingles). That said, Donovan isn't going to have as much burden this year due to the weapons the team now possesses.
