What's new

Would you trade for Draymond?

No thank you, but I hope he doesn't end up on a good team (Clippers, Lakers, Rockets and Portland could make a real run at him).

Oh damn... he'd be great with Portland... they have enough young guys, picks, and salary fodder to do a deal too.

Draymond Green is one of the most overrated players in the league. He is a product of playing with 2-3 players who are all-nba/all-time players. Not only that but his personality and attitude are terrible, this guy belongs on a box of "Summer's Eve" for how douchy he is.

Not only no, but hell no.

Besides, Utah has no nightlife

Just wanna point out that Draymond's ******** last year might have pushed KD off the team. But maybe to his credit, maybe he was right about his ********.

Given the contract and likely acquisition price... plus the antics... I think I'd rather go get Andre from Memphis. Exum a future first and salary cap fodder would be more than enough. If Iggy is healthy in the playoffs he can guard LBJ, Kawhi, PG.

We don't have two 1sts to send. We don't even have one to send, at least not until we start dipping into picks beyond 2025, and even then, at least one of those picks would have to be unprotected.

The Jazz don't have picks to trade. Royce is the closest thing the Jazz have to an asset like that.
I wanna talk about this a little bit more. The Stepien Rule is sensible but the Jazz are at the mercy of it right now.

Does anyone know if it's possible to alter a pick protection if the receiving team agrees? Like, if the Jazz offered to make the pick an unprotected 2022 pick straight up? That would give them their pick this year to trade mid-season (which would also be in play around the draft whether there was an alteration on the Conley pick protection because they can just select then trade the player like they did in the 2019 draft).

Until and unless something like that happens, there is a world of trade possibilities that the Jazz can't even have a conversation about.

Iggy wouldn't wanna come here. He is not down with small markets at all. Like for real, he's kind of a turd about it, and we actually already know about it first-hand. And as a basketball player, he doesn't fill the needs nearly as well as Dray would.

Ultimately, I don't know if I could pull the trigger on Dray, and I don't know that Iggy wouldn't come. I would explore it, but the Jazz have to have tradable picks to explore, but they currently basically have none.

But how would you convince DL to trade Exum for one year of Iggy?

I think the mileage has already taken its toll on Green. With the type of game he plays the drop off will be significant.

And his contract runs thru his 34th birthday. No thanks.

Right now we don’t need to do anything. If I’m Zanik I just be opportunistic like Ujiri was last year. If a guy like Gasol becomes available for a small cost then make it happen.

banners fly forever... so the contract being bad in a couple years is not a big deal.

What would be cool is if Gasol didn't make so much money, so we could trade for him to back up Rudy. Run that Conley/Gasol pick and pop all day long.

We might be able to get Portis for less in a trade. He shoots better and would give us a legit stretch 5.
I'm definitely keeping an eye on the Knicks. Given that they have too many players of the type the Jazz could use and they're clueless as an organization, they seem like perfect trading partners. I'm hoping they lose a lot.

I don't know how I missed this, but I never realized how good of a rebounder Portis was/is.

A fiery 4/5 that boards and shoots would make this team significantly more dangerous, especially in the playoffs. Maybe I'm more excited about who Portis is in theory than in practice, but I would be over-the-moon to have him.

Bradley and DedEx for Portis. Who says no? Besides DL, of course.
