What's new

ENES KANTER's 2nd Match is staring now :) >>Turkey - Germany<<< LIVE MATCH LINK HERE :) <<<

Not certain your point. Are you saying he's just too small to be an elite NBA player? Incidentally, this is NOT homerism, I simply disagree (having watched the games) that a whole lot can be determined by them.

No, Im just saying the reason he dominated that game vs Sullinger and company is because he was bigger than them. Not saying he can't be good, but he won't be good right away.

with his kneepads and the way he bounces around the court, he reminds me of alonzo mourning without the shotblocking & with the tenacity of reggie evans on the boards.
am seeing the in-between of those two players with more range, as his future

I'm not convinced he has range yet. He had a wide open 16 footer and he looked timid to shoot it and ended up pump faking and passing out.

He has range, but it's not his game and never has been. He plays much more like an American big in that he loves contact, loves to push and shove his way around. He's also a bit of a trash talker (a little). I don't think you'll see him use his range like other euros .. he knows where his advantages are and enjoys exploiting them. I think he's still got some serious rust, but I also think his learning curve will be much smaller than most are expecting. One year.

Anyone that draws any conclusions abot Kanter's ability from these two games is simply a pessimist. Did you watch how these games were played? How many times was there a play ran to feed the post (Hint: Guess low)?

Do you think the guy that put up 34 (iirc) against Sullinger, Jones, Barnes, etc. was simply lucky? Did all the games in u19 mean nothing, but somehow does for Jonas? Did dozens and dozens of NBA GM's, scouts, etc. just totally miss it?

It will be a while before we know the answer to these questions, but if you blame Kanter's lack of production on him, you either didn't watch the games, don't understand the game, or are trolling.

Part pessimist, part realist. You may be right, time will tell. I hate to break it to you though, dozens of GMs and scouts have totally missed it before. I could give you plenty of names, but there is no point. I hope you're right.

It takes time for bigs to get their game to where they dominate. Look at Dwight Howard he was underwhelming his first couple of season. Even to the point where Okufar was looking to be the better player. Then look at the turn around. I like Kanter because he can develop into a Memo that likes to bang! Plus, they are running horrible offense where most of the time he is setting picks at the top of the three point line. Or when they screen and roll the pg doesn't know when to get him the ball.

I'm not trolling. Believe me, I want Kanter to do well like everyone else. He's not getting the ball much, I can see that. But despite all those factors, let's face it, he's not producing like I hoped he would. :p;):(:mad::eek::cool::confused::o

And that does go hand in hand with Cyrone's theory that he was simply bigger than everyone and thus could dominate by pushing and shoving. When he tries to push someone like Fes, he doesn't budge, so better have a full repertoire of post moves if he wants to ever score like he did in those U18 tournaments.

He touched the ball maybe 3 times inside the 3 point line the whole game. His team didn't post him and his PG sucked.

The very first play of the game was designed to get him the ball. It did, and in the deep post. He barreled his head into his defender and missed a point blank shot.

Haven't been on much recently. Thanks for the running dialogues on the kid's first two games. Keep them going this morning and I'll check back to see how EKG (Enes Kanter, the Gangsta) did today. Hopefully better.

My biggest concern about him from the little I saw from pre-UK days was his explosiveness. He didn't seem to really play above the rim which for a guy his size is worrisome. At least to me. Sure Kevin Love does well in this same mold. But Kevin Love's awful on ****ing defense.

I suppose this is why I've always felt Favors should be our 5 and Kanter our 4.

That is a fair criticism and a reasonable concern. It's funny that Kanter's athleticism would always measure out around average for a guy his size, but I noticed that his lack of explosiveness translated to below average. Most Jazz fans haven't been able to see it yet, but Kanter has a full arsenal of offensive moves. He is very strong, with good moves, around the rim and then all the way out to the perimeter. For all these reasons, I would like to see Favors protect the rim and allow Kanter to be more focused on scoring. Kanter CAN defend very well, but he's not quick off his feet as a help defending shot blocker type.

Depending on matchups, I could see Kanter and Favors interchangeable at the 4/5.

we couldnt see much of offensive skills from kanter yet thanks to the weird offensive gameplay of turkish team, they dont give the ball to post players at all
