2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Seeing how Derrick Favors is playing for the Pels, the Jazz should have gotten more back in a trade for him. I get that they sent him where he wanted to go though.

I’m fine with keeping Mudiay but he won’t be playing much once Conley comes back... he just won’t... there aren’t enough wing minutes and if you are playing DM, JC and one of Bojan or Ingles mixed in with the second unit you likely don’t want a guy that doesn’t provide offball value. I’m fairly sure I’d like to have JC, DM and one of the other guys handle most of the on ball duties. Mudiay may get the Tucker 4 minutes.

There's 240 minutes a night

Right now here's where everyone stands in MPG

DM 34.7
Rudy 34.4
Bojan 33.4
Joe 30.0
Royce 29.5
Mike 29.4
Jordan 25.2
Mudiay 17.4
Georges 13.2
Tony 10.0

But my assumption is that the Jazz would like to have each player closer to these numbers to save for the playoffs...

DM 33
Rudy 34
Bojan 33
Joe 28
Royce 29
Mike 29
Jordan 22
Niang 10
Tony 10-14

That comes to a total of 228-232 leaving 8-12 minutes a night in the rotation for Mudiay. And the Jazz might even like to knock a minute or two off of those Joe/Mike/Rudy numbers just save them more, ideal world. Having a guy like Mudiay for depth is valuable.

Sorry, what?
I think he’s saying trade those three guys to Minnesota and not take back salary, then make another deal for Olynyk with the trade exception.

You could probably send Davis and Mudiay to Minnesota and then combine the TPE and TB for Olynyk.

TPE’s can’t be combined with anything. On top of that, each player counts for their own TPE that - again - cannot he combined. A player and their salary can only by absorbed by a TPE larger than the player’s salary, which means you don’t get the wiggle of taking back 125% of the outgoing salary.

In other words, the Jazz need to trade a package of players for another player if they want to get anyone making eight figures.

yeah except i wish we didn't send him to NO... he is making NO a dangerous team right now that could beat anyone. and if they end up keeping him in the summer, they will be a problem next season.

Something like that... lots of cold medicine so things are foggy.

Making it a three team trade allows us to aggregate the three salaries going out... using Minny allows the heat to not have to create extra roster spots.

Davis and Bradley and seconds to Sacramento for Bjelica.

Mudiay to Minnesota for Noah.

Sign Bogut or Noah as injury insurance.

Not sure how much Phoenix would want for mikal bridges. Oubre is clearly their SF of the future and Bridges won't get much opportunities as long as he's playing. He dropped 26 in Boston tonight on 10-13 shooting and have all the tools to be an elite starting caliber 3D player.

I get the feeling we're gonna be looking for a 5 out PF/C at the deadline or in the buyout market. We went small with Jeff Green at C early in the season. We tried to go small in this game. I really think that Quin wants that option in the bag of tricks but we haven't found the right big for it yet.
