And you know when you’re searching for PR-spin-related justifications... then you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. There’s no place further down below that spin cycle.

Fair enough. So... explain to me why this happened the way that it did.
Because we got cash considerations that we're going to reinvest in the program, and that's going to be really important -- key, even -- to us really pushing through in terms of competitiveness. Trust the process.

It doesn't really make sense. I can explain it until the details come out. But it wouldn't be the first time a fake pick was included into a trade to make a team look better. I hesitate to call it a frugal move, because they likely paid more real money than the cap money they saved. Really, I think that's a false narrative this off season. They had to off Bradley and Davis to stay under the hard cap, and they paid $3.2 M for Hughes.

We’re nearing a time when we need to start a thread dedicated to brainstorming different reasons for why that Tucker trade happened the way it did. My mind is clamping down pretty hard right now, but there’s also a side of me who is determined that there must be a better rationale than the one we can see from our positions.
I’ve been there but I’m over it. Remember a couple weeks ago when people said we were going to play Udoka immediately and that is why we picked him then we proceeded to get the most expensive backup center we could on a three year deal... now everyone is like well maybe they move Rudy or play a three center deal... we just do stuff and there is seemingly no connection. We bank on **** we haven’t tested and feel like we have to treat small flesh wounds with expensive surgery. I just think we aren’t good.

Look at all the player options we handed out. Look at like the Mike Conley deal that was already 150% too much and that was before we found out he ain’t that good for us. I just think we are sloppy around the edges and you can’t be if you want to be a contender in a non-glamour market.

Tickets to this game were my son's Christmas present. If he's implying that the moves we made move the needle on this, I have no idea what it was he thinks he learned from this game.

So I'd be interested in hearing the exact quote, because if he said there were routes to "getting under" the tax, then we can make moot this discussion of "lol the FO knows better and obviously their numbers show we're under the tax."

So I guess score a win for armchair GMs.

I guess we will just put Rudy on Lebron and favs on AD, problem solved lol

There are routes but it involves trading one of their rotation players. So which one of Rudy, Bojan, Favs (after he just got here), Mike, Royce, JC, Joe is he gonna move?

My guess is there is a mid season Mike trade.

If there's a mid-season Mike trade, it would be really stupid to not have done an off-season Mike trade. I can imagine it now... we trade Mike in a straight salary dump, and all the "don't trade Mike for OPJ" guys will, now with half a season of good OPJ play and health, be saying "u couldn't get OPJ for Mike, lol he's having a great year, this move is as good as any move we could get."

Totally makes sense to spend both your best cap resource and draft resource on the base of a single game. Totally!

My thoughts exactly but a mid season trade does give the front office some really good excuses for underperforming this year so that’s good news.

My guess is if there is no Rudy extension he is moved and we can duck the tax... or we just go for it and Rudy and Mike walk at year end... this we pay tax this year but no repeater tax because now Rudy and Mike are off the books.

If there is a Rudy extension there will be a follow up move preseason or in season where we move a guy like Mike. There has been a lot of talk about DM shifting to pg. The narrative will be something around he’s ready now and that is why the timing of the trade happened when it did.

NY is still under the cap and we could do a 1 for 2 type of deal.

We chasing our tail... Houston is the target... now the Lakers... next year the clips.

The only thing I like more than Mountain Mike is Mid-season Mike (trade).

At this point.
