Did you watch the game? The Clippers Hunted Donovan on every possession. Other guys were open because Donovan, and Conley for that matter, had absolutely no lateral maneuverability. The other Jazz players tried to help and got put out of position. Jazz needed Conley and Mitchel to play offense. They absolutely could not play defense. It was a catch 22.

I can't blame Donovan, he played hurt. But you cannot expect Gobert to defend the corner 3 with a wide open lane. Hell, maybe we should have put in Favors and put Gobert on Mann. Joe was giving us nothing.

Donovan Mitchell was the first rookie since Wilt Chamberlain to lead his team to a first round series win.

He has a bunch of accomplishments along the way. Yes, I'm a Don fanboy but I've also been 100% right on the issue with this team in the playoffs for years now.

I mean if you take Rudy out of the game and play smallball the Jazz still get torched, as evidenced by their 142 defensive rating when Gobert was on the bench this series.

The problem wasn't that Gobert can't guard the perimeter - it was that our gameplan was literally to keep his *** in the paint and let Mann shoot wide open 3's.

That having been said, Gobert played like garbage. His effort level, his fight, his focus, his heart. Non-existent tonight. If that's how he plays in the biggest game of his career, I'm not even going to bother trying to argue with anybody who wants him gone. He went a long way towards proving all his naysayers right tonight.

Just so damn disappointing.

I am from Turkey. We looked great in preliminary but the coach sucks ***.

I know that England is just losers, lol. Would never put my trust on them and they have one of the best teams talent-wise.

I am rooting for Italy. Superb football, plus Mancini - Galatasaray ties.

I get the limitations. I just think this whole hype up defense thing has unrealistic expectations on Rudy. Top 3 DPOY candidates and last year's DPOY all looked ridiculous at elimination games this year. It's just what happens in the NBA. Playoff defense is still a team thing and a guy like Rudy can elevate that.

Defense is fundamentally different than offense and most fans look at defense as they look at offense. There has been lots of moving parts where they took Rudy out of the game. They didn't let him guard the PnR. They used him to get a blender going by pulling him to the rim and passing to his guy. This time, Mann made shots and didn't even need to start the blender.

I would have expected different coverages but Rudy would be out on the floor in all of them. I don't know to which degree the blame lies on Quin but Jazz lack smart defenders. They don't have to be good, just smart enough to apply scheme. There are lots of actions on the small side that add up little by little and culminate on Rudy.

He didn’t have a defensive or offensive impact and became a full liability tonight. Beverly had a defensive impact... it’s not just defense is different... it’s his limitations will get magnified the further we go in the playoffs. He didn’t make them pay at all which is as big a problem as not impacting the defense.

Let’s just call a spade a ****ing spade... he’s a great defender in the regular season but in the playoffs teams will neuter his impact on both sides of the floor at some point. As a Rudy fan and defender I didn’t want to believe it but it’s true... 129 pts... the other DPOY candidates didn’t allow that.

If you were suggesting a small ball with Ersan at the 5, bogey at the 4 as we've seen in the regular season for small stretches, yeah, why not. But what you suggested has probably never been practiced, for sure not tested in a game so it makes no sense at all. But yeah, I get it, why play 24 minutes with the same tactics that got you 30 behind..

I suggested that all series too. Check my posts. But Quin is such a creature of habit I knew he wouldn't play Ersan since he hasn't yet this series.

It's over. Doesn't matter. Whatever I say doesn't matter. Quin chose to keep us failing.

The other DPOY candidates didn't have this much of a burden, though. Giannis got Jrue, Lopez and Tucker. He would have been fine if he could just slow down Durant. Simmons can't even stay on Trae and he has Green, Embiid and Thybulle on his team. Bam has 4 other good defenders that can switch and looked lost against a team that struggled against the switch.

I want to take my parents to Istambul this year or the next one, let's see. I loved the city when I was there. Had an amazing time with my wife in Capadocia too, drinking good wine and playing backgammon in local restaurants almost every night. I wish next time I could visit some coastal towns.

I lived in England for a couple of years. It was great to see the clubs (I lived in Manchester) but the national team...ugh, the worst.

I think we win comfortably if, at that point, Rudy doesn't commit that bonehead turnover right after a stop to give Paul George a dunk and spark their run.

It's hard to put into words how disappointing a complacent turnover like that was, at that stage in the game. I don't think I'm overreacting either.

After blowing a 3-1 lead last season, and, the next season, being at a point where you have a massive lead in a huge playoff game, your mindset should 1000% be "What happened last year is not happening again, no way in hell".

What do you want from him? He had a 40 point triple double. How much better would he do if he was healthy. We needed Rudy and Mike to be all stars. Mike isn’t right and Rudy didn’t do it.

This would be the third different way his defense is neutered in the playoffs.

He would have at least offered token resistance on defense. That is all we needed. I get why he couldn't. Patrick freaking Beverly scored 12.

Donovan is not the guy on Defense that he was tonight. Match that up with a paper cutout of Conley, yes, you can scheme Rudy out. Especially when Quin offered no adjustments.

At the price we are paying, we’ll never be able to surround him with the right guys to win a ship. The time has come.
