He will have better spacing and less attention for sure but I am not sure what he does after teams force him to put the ball on the floor. He is not a natural shooter like Niang so he will have to attack closeouts more but I haven't seen much when puts the ball on the floor. He is not that long and he barely gets a lift off the dribble. He'll be better when he plays with guys who are better than he is and he isn't such a focal point.
Just still don’t know what Brantley really gives us. Maybe he will have a good camp.
There is still a game left. I thought Dok, Forrest and Hughes did their jobs. Brantley and Mathias were kind of sucky. There were some guys we will probably never see again that did OK: Mooney, Jarrell Martin, Fogg and Sestina. Teague looked to me as trying to do too much. I wonder why Paul White didn't play.Hughes ended SL with two good games. I think he really needed this. Hopefully he can use this to have a great season in the G-League.
I was ready to write Hughes off but he came back from the dead imo. There was something odd about last season's Stars team. Hughes couldn't throw it in the ocean in the bubble. It was the same with Trevon Bluiett who is normally a solid GLeague type player. I wonder if the coaching staff got in both players' heads so badly that they couldn't tie their shoes.Nothing I watched in Jazz SL roster would have made any difference last season.
Matter of fact, I've seen the same issues that killed us vs. Clippers.
We needed to audition long, quick, athletic wings/forwards. We didn't do it.
On Forrest, Azubuike, Brantley, they are not ready for regular rotation minutes.
Hughes killed me; he was not able to establish a better or major role.
Teague's got something.
He’s a very good defender and wouldn’t have the responsibility on the regular team as he does here. I think he’d have more room for an occasional probably rare drive and floater, and find better looks for 3 playing with better players and guys that know how to run an offense. It’s not like he’d see the floor ever and if he did, probably not mor than 10 min of spot up shooting with decent handles and good defense and hustle.Just still don’t know what Brantley really gives us. Maybe he will have a good camp.
Agreed. Nice to see him improved from the **** show he was in SLC to the end of Vegas SLHughes ended SL with two good games. I think he really needed this. Hopefully he can use this to have a great season in the G-League.
Now that the Jazz are out of the running, I see them sitting Dok, Trent, Brantley and Hughes.
Hard to know if there's any particular side effect from Stars coaching. Coaching usually needs to evolve cohesively with personnel changes.I was ready to write Hughes off but he came back from the dead imo. There was something odd about last season's Stars team.
