Was waived by the Celtics this afternoon. That means four of the first nine selections in the 2014 draft have hit the waiver wire including Ded Ex. Do you think the Jazz would be interested since Parker is LDS and is a cousin of local pro golfer Tony Finau.

No. He doesn't get paid to play defense. Since we at least expect people to play defense he wouldn't get paid here at all.

I really struggle to see the point of clinging to the hope that Oni is an NBA player, so with that in mind:

Sure, why not kick the tires. I'm still not convinced the wing depth is all that good and I'm a little worried about R2G2.

If Oni gets a little better on both ends, he's a player we desperately need. If Parker gets a little bit better he might establish himself as an NBA player, but we do not need that player.

Sure, but Jabari is (much) closer to being an NBA player. Oni has been a wreck out there. I’m just thinking of a player you could put out there if there was a rash of injuries that wouldn’t screw up the game too much.

But I can see your point too. I just don’t think Oni has it. It is better to churn through prospects than trying to develop a fringe prospect over several seasons in the hopes they become a 10th man, ESPECIALLY if they may have actually gotten worse.

IMO, Oni has already proven that and that's why I think he should be on this roster. He played 350+ non garbage time minutes last year and the Jazz were +19.5. Obviously those minutes mostly came in the Conley+Gobert death lineup, but he didn't screw that up and that's all we need. His game blends in really well with good players who want the ball and don't defend. He's a streaky shooter and vomits himself every other time he puts the ball on the floor, but he's generally low impact and that's valuable in this league and especially for this team. Royce is essential to this team just by being a 10% usage guy who's above average (or just average) at shooting and defending. Oni is not quite there but not too far off either.

If we're building a G-League team, Oni might be my last pick on the roster. But if we're talking about playing in real lineups with good players, I think he compliments well and can fit in any of our main lineups. Parker is the opposite type of player. He's infinitely more talented as a basketball player, but he might cannibalize your offense by taking from better players and he's definitely not helping your defense.

I think it's generally good to churn through end of roster prospects because the reality is that most of them won't make it anyways. But developing a player in your system year over year can pay dividends too. We've had several players develop in relatively later stages in their careers. Really comes down to a case by cases basis, but it's not impossible to keep developing after years on the fringes. For me, Oni is not that far off. If he gets a little bit better on either end I think he makes just about any roster in the league. If he does both, he plays in just about any rotation in the league.

Oni may have been +19.5 in non-garbage minutes, but he looked like garbage in all of his playoff minutes. And that is putting it nicely.

And he played like 10-20 playoff minutes....yeah I don't judge players in entirety by their first 10-20 real playoff minutes.

Normally I'd agree, but he just disappeared. If he was aggressive and made mistakes I'd give a pass, but people that disappear in high pressure situations tend to keep doing so.

I watched Parker play a little last year… no thanks. He’s not good.

Since my vote is important to what the Jazz do. I would keep Oni over Parker. Oni has a chance to be a useful nba role player. Parker is the smaller Enes Kanter.

Yep. Same with Niang. Just was a big zero when it counted. He's gone, so why keep Oni? I know he's the 10th man or whatever, but look what damage the clippers 10th man did to us in the playoffs. I can't see Oni ever doing anything even remotely like that. I'd rather they take a swing on a player with upside in that spot.

But not Parker. Parker straight up sucks.

I have the completely opposite attitude towards Oni. The reason I like him is that he compliments better players well and can blend into any lineup. Besides, playoff performance (especially for role players) is highly variable in the playoffs. Judge any role player solely on their last playoff run and you'll find yourself looking like an idiot over and over because that is simply not how it works. Making large statements about a player based on tiny sample sizes is not accurate.

So that's why he sticks around. He's a kiss-***.
