Trade deadline discussion

The time to make a move was in the summer. It’s not like these defensive issues snuck up on us.

I generally agree but I do wonder if Ainge coming in adds to the chances we make a trade. There also might be some stuff that opens up because teams fall out of playoff contention that may not have been available this summer.

I think, objectively speaking, this would be a pretty fair trade. Not sure if either team would do it, but it's not unreasonable.

Cam Reddish is the same size as Jerami Grant and can be impactful as a perimeter defender. He's smoother off the dribble than Grant, especially shooting off the dribble. He doesn't rebound much, but Grant actually isn't much of a rebounder either. Delon Wright would basically play the Trent Forrest role and give us another adequate defender against guards.

You know what….I’m joining HH on the Kenrich hype train. I’ve been scanning all the wings and he just keeps popping up. I’m going to blame it on the haircut. This guy is really good and hiding in plain sight. Amazing fit for our system and needs.

Whose minutes is he taking?

I think you got to move JC in that trade. Obvious OKC won’t want him, so you’d have to 3 team it.

I’m not one of those guys who likes to **** on Royce, but I think Kenrich gives us a real alternative to him. If those two players swapped places we might think Kenrich is a better player.

I've been wondering about Cam Reddish's availability, hate to say it because I love JC but Id go for it.

He’s got some of the Joe Ingles passing, tertiary creator, feel for the game stuff. Does a lot of in between stuff… his contract would help the budget too. I think he might be a guy that would really help our other pieces shine.

I’m not sure he’s super available but OKCs tanking window is closing after this year imo… so they kinda need to make sure they are bottom 4 and Williams helps them win more than they would otherwise.

I do wonder if we could have swiped him in the Favs deal if we pushed… I hope we did and they said no… cuz otherwise I’m sad.

He also has a mullet. Williams is scrappy and tough. He reminds me a little of Matt Barnes.

Royce had 5 pts tonight, including 1-for-5 from 3pt. He had 1 rebound in 30 mins. He played so-so defense against Dlo and had a few heads-up defensive plays. He moved the ball and had 4 assists. However, if the Jazz want to upgrade their starting and closing lineups, he may need to play fewer minutes.

The only way you get more offensively from that spot is by taking from really good players. Never got why people call out Royce for having low production when that’s all the usage that is available in that lineup. You either have to have a guy that never shoots like Royce or have someone who takes from Mitchell, Conley, Bogey, and even Gobert.

His offense has been just fine. He barely shoots, but when he does he’s hyper efficient. And he’s gotten much better as playmaker off of close outs and short rolls in his career.

Defensively, he adds way more than any of the other options. Which isn’t saying much, but he’s a B level defender at most things and having that guy on the court is valuable. Quin needs to get over the idea that he can guard a primary ball handlers, however. He’s terrible whenever a screen is set on him and not great against a perimeter isolation either.

having Royce is not the problem. Having not enough of guys like Royce is the problem.

If we could clone one of our players and have as many as we want who would it be? You can't play more than one Gobert on the court so he isn't great, although 5 Goberts would be something I want to watch. Mitchell you could possibly have 3 on the court at once but that's a stretch. Royce you could have 3 of but you need a center at a ball handler. You could have 5 bogies but defense and rebounding would be rough. Ingles a couple years ago would be awesome to have 4 of. Conley and JC are two at most.

Yeah, that's kind of Utah's weakness. They don't have a do it all type player. Ideally we need someone who is between a Royce and a Bojan.

Yeah hes name is AD ))
Nah, AD isn't a good enough ball handler. Durant is the one that you would want 5 of. Maybe kahwi. Of course the real answer is prime lebron.
