Jazz plan to sign Denzel Valentine

I thought he'd be great. He started really injury prone and never developed a game on the pro level. I hope he can contribute

Crazy how bad his career has gone. He was basically a better version of Desmond Bane when he came out of MSU.
Yeah, that's crazy to think about. They had basically the same scouting profile and NBA prospects out of college to my memory too. Maybe Bane was regarded as a slightly better defender, but probably not by much; maybe Valentine was thought to have a higher offensive ceiling? Funny (or not so funny for the Jazz) how this all works out.

Odd diference in terms of player profile between him and Ennis, even weirder looking at who's said to be out so far

I dont think he was. Bane has been a meh defender in the NBA as well, he just makes a lot of shots and plays smart.

I loved valentine in the draft… if he has a couple good games I can’t promise I’ll be able to not fall back in love.
Same here. I remember when people touted his basketball IQ out of the draft. If he can hit the three he'll stay on the floor. Here is is roughly two weeks ago:

If they sign him to a regular contract, they might be able to include his salary in a trade? Or...maybe they're planning to trade someone else, like Hughes or Butler. If I were trading with the Jazz, I'd want one of those young players.

I'm pretty sure they're just signing him to a 10 day contract.

Had him listed in the off-season. Interesting player who I had high hopes for during the draft. Not bad at most things, but also not particularly good at anything either. Could succeed here in an Ingles way if he figures out the shooting. Like his passing and toughness on defense.

If he’s good why would a guard/wing starved team like the Cavs let him go?
