What's new

Jazz acquire NAW and Juancho Hernangomez for Ingles, Hughes, and two 2nd round picks.

Yeah, Joe at least gives the outward appearance that he knows this is a business. He also doesn't strike me as the type to have hard feelings about it, but what do I know.

It's still kinda sad though.
Keep in mind this was the last year of his contract, and he's injured and will not play again for at least a year. To be able to trade him for something still leaves the door open to add him back later when he's all healed up if we both want that.
Basically we traded away negligible time on the court, for possible time on the court this year and some financial help.

This actually does help us this year in a title run because a body is better than nobody.

Joe knows what's up.

Lmao you guys ****ing crack me up I’m legit laughing. If you come into the trade deadline with the expectation of dumping Ingles and a pick to get off salary you’d be a lot happier than you are. I’m super hyped I must be higher on NAW than the rest of you. He has talent.

As has been mentioned previously, the FO and ownership are lucky Joe got injured.

Watched a highlight video of NAW. Has has better pick and roll passing than I knew. He could help off the bench as pick and roll facilitator. Other than that I am with everyone clarkson seems to be redundant.

I don't think NAW is a bad get. However, he doesn't solve any of our issues. He doesn't replace what Joe brought before he went down.

Something else has to give here. Clarkson, Gay and Hernangomez and maybe a 1st should be able to get us something to help in the now.

I'm late to the party here but:

-Really wish they hadn't traded any picks, I hope it's worth it.
-I'm not familiar enough with NAW to have an opinion, I was ambivalent on Hughes.
-I'm wondering if Juancho could actually be a valuable piece.
-This will make a lot more sense if/when another trade is made. Hopefully this means JC is gone, I wouldn't be shocked if Gay is moved.
-If they trade a first for someone, it had better be for someone good enough to be real contenders. They can't keep burning through the few assets they have.
-Bummer to move Joe, but it seemed inevitable. If he plays again, I imagine he'll be back.

Overall, I like it. I'm totally fine with dumping salary, this is a business after all. Avoiding the luxury tax eventually would be a big deal.
I wasn't expecting anything to happen at all, really. I'll give it a B for now, but we will see.

EDIT: I will be *super* pissed off if this means they let House walk.

I guess I missed it. True.
They probably would have got rid of him for the same type of deal and then put on a fireman's coat for protection, now they can skip the coat.

I am pretty unfamiliar with Juancho's game, is he any good? Seems like a tweener, is he okay on D? Or is he just salary filler?

The only thing that could make this even better is shipping Clarkson out.

Juancho is a good rebounder that struggles to defend on the perimeter in the NBA. Sometimes he can make 3's and finish garbage. I don't see a role for him on this team. Resign House.

All reports are he was a throw in to make the salaries match up and more than likely won't play in a Jazz uniform.

I remember him in DNV and SAS shooting well against the Jazz and having an impact on the game but that doesn't mean he does it consistently and given he as been added as a throw in then SAS and POR both must feel the same (that he doesn't have a consistent impact with his minutes).

I remember reading CHA wanted to try and get a big, well now the Jazz have a glutton of bigs, so just saying .... who knows maybe a potential trade partner.

My 2 cents: I don't know much about NAW but I remember him being hyped out of college. I saw one game and he was horrible and another where he looked pretty good. I just don't see the need for another guard. We have Forrest who has showed some improvement. We have JB who needs developing and now you bring in another guard who has played badly this year. I always laugh when the organization talks about developing guys but who have they really developed. What I have observed is that the Jazz seem to be stuck in the mindset to bring in older players past their primes and sit the young developing guys which has been very frustrating to watch. I hope NAW surprises me and can help the team. I hope they sign House too. Move JC to get another defensive SF.
