Jazz vs. Mavs in round one

My prediction is up 3-0 and up 25 in the second half... then they go on a huge scoring run and we lose. I will not feel good until we win every game... no collapse is too big for this team.

I think Luka comes back for game 4, we are up 25 and on our way to a sweep. They shut down Luka bc it’s seemingly over. Jalen Brunson turns us into traffic cones and it leads to death by Maxi Kleber 3’s.

The one thing everyone can agree on is exactly what you said. No collapse is too big for this team and major collapses are to be expected.

Every time they do it, they’ve been rewarded with the almighty dollar. When has it ever backfired? Not even Stern going out with a presser saying Donaghey cooked games had any lasting power behind a couple days and a few people online.
They rescinded a tech for Luka and the basketball gods took his calf muscle... they are not to be messed with.

Anyone know how bad Doncic's injury is? Can he really miss 2-3 games?

Imagine Luka doesn't play and the Mavs grind out game 1... are we going to punch back? what makes someone believe we would?

It's a good point. We can talk for days about the X's and O's and our poor roster composition, but when it comes to last year's LAC series the Jazz should have absolutely won. They just get shell shocked when something goes wrong. I've never seen a team more in sync and on the same pages as the Jazz are when something goes wrong. It takes a team effort to collapse and fall apart as well as they do.

Clippers without PG and Kawhi put an all time offensive output against us. I think anyone can put enough points to beat us. Our defense is terrible and you don’t need top end talent to get by our defenders.

The Mavs have also been pretty good without Luka on the court the past few years. Luka is not one of those stars with a gigantic on/off differential. The Mavs have good systems and good talent all around, which is a recipe for disaster for the Jazz.

On paper, the Jazz should beat the Mavs with or without Luka. But this Jazz team is unbelievable/illogical, and they can very easily embarrass themselves against the Mavs with or without Luka.

Are you talking about game 6 last year? The Clippers were without Kawhi, but PG played and scored like 30 points. Thats the difference between the Clippers and Mavs, even without Kawhi, they still had arguably a top 10 player in PG. The Mavs have some nice role players but they don't have enough talent without Luka to beat us. Another thing that hasn't been talked about enough, the Mavs are also without their third leading scorer Hardaway Jr. They just don't have enough firepower.

There are a lot of thoughts but I think it comes down to these main points....

- Soft tissue injuries are tricky... can't brace it or shoot up some pain killers and go for it. You will reinjure or maybe even do worse. KD is the prime example.
- He may be able to come back in less than 10-14 days, but from what I read he is at high risk for re-injury.
- This is the type of injury where you'd want to be pain free for a week or so before you test it... and when you test it you will find out if its ready... you will be notified that you failed the test when it gives out again.

Pure speculation... he misses at least 2 games. If he comes back earlier I think he's at an extremely high risk to reinjure. If they split the games in Dallas I think he sits game 3 too... if we go up 0-2 then i think he may give it a go in the danger zone.

If we are smart we put him in every defensive action... he has a huge offensive load and we should really test how strong that muscle is. No ****ing mercy if you decide to strap it up we come for your neck.

You’re mistaking our coach for someone who kills hookers. He doesn’t even do that in GTA.

Sorry, incorrectly included PG there. But the point is that the Clippers got better as the series went on even though they lost Kawhi. I don't think you need top talent to pick apart the Jazz defense. You just need to figure out how to attack the Jazz defense. Reggie Jackson was slicing though our defense with ease.

But like I said, logically you are correct. There's no way the Mavs have the talent to beat us without Luka. But the same could be said about the Jazz last year or the year before. There's just no way the Jazz could blow a 2-0 lead, lose to LAC without Kawhi, or blow a 3-1 lead against DEN. This team just finds a way. If there's anything that these past years have taught us, it should be that this team can find a way to lose.

Lol guys we already got a break from the league. Game 1 was scheduled the earliest way possible for us already. Zero shot they give 3 days in between Game 1 and 2 and then another between Game 2 and Game 3. You think teams are going to be ok with playing with one day in between while we are getting two in between both? I highly doubt this happens. I almost guarantee Game 2 is on Monday and then they could stretch Game 3 to Thursday.

My guess is that it will be:

Saturday Game 1
Tuesday Game 2
Friday Game 3
Sunday Game 4

Yeah no way the league would ever do that.
