and somehow people kept feeding on the Don/Rudy drama. even if we got our two stars working together, you simply cannot go far when supposedly the "third star" on your team plays like this.

No doubt Conley was a big issue and possibly the main culprit in the loss, but the biggest issue is the defense. It's not an individual player issue currently. We can't make a scapegoat out of anyone IMO.

I don't know why people kept arguing about Don and Rudy.

It's like Jokic this season. The man plays like a MVP, then what? His team barely avoids the play-in and will probably get swept in the first round.

To win it all you can't do it alone. you need a strong supporting cast which we clearly don't have.

We need to seriously think about upgrading the starting lineup next season, starting with Mike and Royce. then Bogey one season after.

I almost wish we do trade Rudy - only because I'd love to see him succeed and dominate in a better situation. He deserves it.

No one wants that stupid contract. We will have to give away assets or even absorb some of his contract. But he sets good screen numbers to justify his contract

So is Conley like Ben Simmons now?

Cuz i know Ben Simmons can score 0 point in a game while giving you some elite defense. Then pundits still criticize him for it.

Is Conley playing all-nba level defense for us? Or is he part of our problem? I mean both offense AND defense

No. I'd argue NOLA Minny and Memphis all have stronger supporting cast than us. More depth for sure.

If you make a ranking list of all SFs, PFs and PGs in the league, I'd say Mike and Royce DEFINITELY won't make it to the top 15 in their respective positions. Bogey maybe could rank somewhere around the 15th.

So 3 of our 5 starting spots have players who are considered AVERAGE or even BELOW AVERAGE for the starting positions, with at least 15 players ranked ahead of them in each of their positions.
