Mic’d up segment Donovan/Quin

Someone finally posted it on Twitter so figured I’d post it here. Here’s the kind of weird moment of Donovan/Quin discussing passing the ball to Rudy.

If anything, this vindicates Quin and Donovan from the description you gave in another thread:

Btw don’t know if it’s been mentioned here but did anyone notice the awkward/weird mic’s up moment between Quin and Donovan we’re Quin was almost poking fun at getting Rudy the ball? Donovan gave like an awkward smile, and Quin played it off because Donovan had a hot mic on him lol.

Lol, judging by that awkward mic’d up moment between he and Donovan until Donovan almost told him with his facial expression “I’m mic’d” it was like Quin was clowning the “get Rudy the ball” stuff being pushed. Almost like he was okay with Rudy fumbling it because it would prove his coaching right/Donovan’s approach right. If it was what it came off as, it’s disgusting coaching.

It was terrible. Donovan gave him like a look as if to say “remember I’m mic’d up” and Quin tried to play it off. No wonder the Jazz are a joke, it’s starts with their joke of a coach and cliques on the team.

Vindicates them poking fun at feeding Rudy the ball lol? Quin did play it off, it’s the original statement, smile, and pause that are just weird.

I should've known oneye's description of how it unfolded was insanely inaccurate.
It did seem worse in the moment, seeing as this segment appeared/happened as Rudy had been forced the ball and fumbled it multiple times. This wasn’t a “nice” moment of bringing it up considering the moment it occurred. Here is another Mic’d segment:

I think this was definitely overblown, some of the comments I read made it sound much worse than it actually was. I have to admit, it was a little odd though.

I don't know why the second one made me laugh outloud, but it did.

Quin: Hey we need more energy!
Rudy: That's right, we need more energy on defense!
Quin: Oh I was talking about on offense.
Rudy: :(

yeah Quin doesn't seem to be able to motivate them. According to Locke the problem is they didn't play hard. WTF How are they not playing hard at this point, pretty freaking damning for the coach if that is the case
Yeah I mean, I will say this. When the 3x DPOY is telling his teammates to try harder on defense, only to immediately be undermined by the head coach, it's probably not going to result in more effort on defense.

I agree with Locke they didn’t play hard, and don’t way too often. I think Quin is a good coach in some ways, but he’s not really a light a fire under you kind of coach. There was that one “wake up” moment way back when, but you rarely see Quin even light up the refs. He’s not a super inspirational coach to his players imo…..however….that’s still on them, because if you’re playing in the NBA, making millions of dollars, and are a grown *** man, you should not need another grown *** man to inspire you to play hard in a playoff game.

Yeah, Rudy showed intensity there and Quin was like “woah woah, let calm down, offense buddy” lol

Quin saying "we fed it to him" right after Rudy had fumbled it a couple of times and the smirk on Donovan's face are what I find odd. It's almost like they were trying to prove a point, like, see...that's why we don't get him the ball more often. I don't know, maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Because it's an inconvenience. These guys are flat out lazy. These guys do not want to work for anything.

This is 10000000% my biggest issue with Quin. It was so ****ing obvious the Rudy touches were almost meant to humble him. Feeding him the ball on rolls at the FT line and posting him up against a big outside the paint. Those are areas Rudy is going to fail a lot of the time.

Why not run a play to get him a switch and duck in vs a guard (WHy don't we ever do this!!!!!!)? It's just so weird to me. Props to Donovan for hitting Rudy with some nice love passes that Rudy didn't have the juice to finish, but those other looks were not it.

The only player I think this is a huge Quin issue is Donovan. He's the only non defender we have who has the skills to be a plus defender.

Bogey is slow mentally and physically. He has no ****ing foresight whatsoever on the court. His anticipation skills are *** and so are his reaction times. I get why he's bad on D and I dont think any amount of "hard coaching" is going to help his game in that regard.

Clarkson is kind of like Mitchell as well. He has the tools but D has been such an afterthought for him for so long I don't think he is mentally able to lock in.

Conley is older so I get his issues on D at times. He actually rotates though and even tries on rebounds that la d outside the paint

The media has been alluding to a fractured lockerroom for a while, and all the assumption and the blame has fallen on Donovan. What if the real issue is Rudy Gobert? When are yall going to realize that the biggest diva on the team is probably Rudy?

I'm willing to bet Rudy complains all the time behind closed doors. Hell, he complained to the media about touches during the 20-21 season while we were doing well. He publically complains all the time which irritates his coaching staff and teammates.

So many of you have built up in your mind that Rudy is some guy who tries the hardest, says all the right things and is never to blame for our shortcomings. What if he is the massive diva disrupting the lockerroom?

I bet he complained about shot attempts in Game 1 even though we won the game. Pathetic

He literally said that while he would like more shots, as long as they won, it wasn't important and that they talk about sacrifice and it's one of those things to help the team.

If Rudy was the diva you wanna portrait, there would be no defensive effort from him within all that eff you the team constantly gives him both sides of the floor

Also, all the rumours that comes to talk over the team splitting come from the visualization of Donovan asking out, or Donovan coming out to the front office and telling them to choose between he and Rudy. And those rumours don't come from jazzfans board, nor local jazz beat writers

Because Rudy tries really hard in a defensive system, he can't be a diva?

Rock solid logic there.

Then why did Quin make the comment about trying to get him the ball that came with the response we see?

I love how yall will completely commit to rumors involving Donovan to the point that you blow it out of proportion, but you simply refuse to see something clear as day.
