NBA Playoffs

Nah shaq in todays game would still score, though not efficiently as many of his points would come from shooting 50% from the line. He would get killed on the other end as he woukd suck guarding the perimeter.
We already seem hakeem getting bounced early from the playoffs (embiid). Your other guys do fit the size criteria so well done.

You don't remember prime Shaq and Hakeem. Prime Hakeem would be the MVP of the league right now.. crazy dominant on both sides of the ball. Embiid can only dream of being that good.

Sure i remember them silly. They played prior to steph right? Game done changed son. All you have to do is look at the playoffs right now. Not alot of back to the basket in the post possessions being used.

Neither guy has to play out of the post... they did so because that was the era... and even then those guys would bury teams in the post now. Part of the reason there aren't guys running that stuff is there are only a few good post players. Shaq would end up playing a little more like Giannis. Both guys can pass out of the post. Embiid if healthy is probably the best post player and Shaq/Hakeem are so much better than him as passers and Hakeem's fade away is better than anything Embiid has. Teams were also allowed to tackle players back then... those guys would live at the line... find all the open shooters when you double and score whenever they wanted in single coverage.

Shaq would play like giannis lol.

I would just have LeBron and bird play like shaq and Hakeem if it was ever necessary for me then.

I think Hakeem would have found a way to be a 35mpg player. He had the skill, athleticism, ball handling, and frame to evolve. Shaq would have improved in some areas, but in others, he just wasn't built for this era. A guy like Barkley would be more dominant today than he was then. He was a complete enough player on both ends, and his strength/athleticism would have been showcased against small ball teams.

I also wasnt being so literal. I would simply be looking for players that can defend every position and can also handle, shoot, drive etc.
Do it all players. Usually these guys are between 6 foot 5 and 6 foot 10. I love guys like KG and Durant though who are both over 6 foot 10. They fit the mold of the type of players I'm looking for (guys that can do everything)

You really are extremely dumb. This is one of the worst takes I’ve seen on the internet.

Prime Shaq is the most dominant player of all-time but yeah he wouldn’t be able to play in this era. Just some of the stupidest **** I’ve ever read.

If you think Shaq wouldn't dominate in today's game go watch smaller Zion bullying his way through everyone.

I never said he wouldn't be able to play. I said he wouldn't dominate at the same level. He would be stretched out on defense and guys would flop at his every dominant move.

Prime Shaq was quick, lean and powerful. He was also fairly fast. Late career/fat Shaq would still be ok, but would give up a lot of open shots on the perimeter.

If you took prime Shaq and put him into today's NBA, no one could stop him or contain him. Very few could do a decent job back when the league was full of good big men.

I watched Zion take dudes off the dribble with an array of moves that shaq never employed. Also saw Zion team win more games without him than with him. (Doesn't mean much since he is so young and his team has gotten better while he was hurt)

He would score a bunch. In an inefficient way. He would get hack a shaqed. He would get doubled. Guys would flop when he bullied his way to the hoop and he would get in foul trouble. He would get hunted on the perimeter defensively. The man he was guarding would be setting screens on the perimeter and shaq would have to defend a guy on the 3 point line. I know he was more mobile when he was young but he still wasn't as mobile as a wing player.

I think Embiid is that good. He's just been banged up pretty severely and has always had questionable teammates.

FWIW Im not saying guys like jokic and cp3 are worthless or that you cant win championships with them. Not at all.
Just saying that my personal roster construction would not feature guys like that. I would want a roster with guys that have not glaring weakness to their game. I would sacrifice a little bit of elite skillsets for more all around ability. Jokic is freaking amazing. Might be the best offensive player in the league. Any team would be lucky to have him. He isn't the type of player I would be going for though because his defense is too poor. Now you can win a title with jokic if everything else is perfect around him that you can hide or overcome his deficiencies but I would prefer to make a roster full of guys that dont have deficiencies to hide or overcome in the first place.
