Jazz are committed to Donovan as cornerstone according to Woj

Honest question, has Mitchell lost a step already? I seem to remember him driving and dunking on people a lot more is first two years than the last two. If he’s already losing some of his athleticism are we sure we want to build around the guy?

Good question. I dont know

Woj is a speakerhead for agents/teams. He's not untrustworthy these days, but when it comes to speculation you can't really believe him. It's tactical.
I wonder what it means when he says "The Jazz are not receptive to offers for Mitchell and are going to retool around him"? Is this Mitchell's camp saying "hold on, we don't want to be traded right now when we have little to no leverage in choosing our destination"?

Maybe it is him realizing he doesn't need to do that and take those risks for 2pts when he can make a layup? I don't really know. But he doesn't go for those highlight reel dunks like he did his first two seasons, that is for sure.

Also, it seems when he does go for those dunks he barely gets over the rim and sometimes i have seen him not get there on an attempt.

AK's natural position was a hybrid 3/4 and played a fair amount of time (if not most) at the 3 even before Boozer. Dude would have been fantastic in this era now that I think about it. He was a defensive monster.

Ya AK career is so frustrating due to what could have been

I would probably put mitchell ahead of AK but maybe not. Thats a tough one. Otherwise i think i agree with everything on your list.

Actually after thinking about it a bit more, i would probably drop malone down to 2 and put Burks #1

Check out the polls I just posted. Let's do this thing!!

So we are picking our top 30 then what's the next step?
Next step is to have 3 lists of 10 and do the same thing again with those lists. Then we get the final 18, so maybe 2 lists of 9, then the final 10 from that. Or we look at the votes from the lists of 9 and just assemble the list of 10, need to see where it ends up. I could possibly do a final list all the way to 50, have to see the level of participation. I wanted to see if @Jason could temporarily raise the limit for poll options to 20 for the final round and have the last 18 on one poll and everyone picks their top 10 from there. I plan on leaving the polls open for at least 5 days or so. So compile stuff over the weekend or something.

Exactly this! I can’t remember honestly him just throwing it down line he used to. I understand wanting to adjust your game to remain healthier and be a better player. But I sincerely wonder if he’s already lost a step? And if so, is that really someone we want to build around?

When has Spida done something like this in the past two years? Does he still have this gear? I don’t know if he does.

Honestly, I remember Clarkson having the highlight dunks this past season or two, not Spida.

I thought Spider took some advice from older players. The wear and tear on the body from reckless drives in the paint lead to injuries that accumulate, shortening careers, which translates into millions of dollars lost.

Can we really claim Pistol since he played the majority of his career with Atlanta and New Orleans? It seems weird to me that people are ranking him ahead of folks like Dwill, Boozer, AK47, Spida, etc who played their best seasons in Utah.

I really wonder if he has lingering ankle issues. This would explain the reduction in explosiveness, and even the issues he had moving laterally, as in he wouldn't/couldn't move laterally to stay in front of anyone on D and he didn't bob and weave through traffic the way he did in years past. It is possible he tweaked it and it was bothering him the last half of the season.

Idk I listed their Utah stats only on the polls. He was still a force in Utah. Better than a lot of people who played here. He played 330 games in Utah/NO and averaged 25 ppg with the Jazz. Crazy stat line of 25 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.4 spg for the Jazz.

Interesting stat for Pete, he averaged 63.6% from 3 for the one season in his career they actually had the 3 pt line. Made something like 10 of 15 total shots. I think he would have been a very productive player in the 3 pointer era.

This is my greatest fear. I would lean toward trading him just due to speculation it becomes chronic. Bad enough if it's his ankle. Even worse if it's his foot.

Boozer, Williams, Okur days > Donovan, Gobert, Clarkson/Conley days

I would probably agree but its close though. I really enjoyed Gobert and loved the best record in the league season.
We were setting records all the time that season. It was so fun to watch each and every game. I was extremely invested

He is shooting less at the rim for sure. Down from %26 of his shots to %14 but his %FG went from %64 to %71 so the looks he is getting at the rim are much better. Most of the attempts at the rim his rookie year progressively became 3s. That helped his %efg too. It's less exciting but I think it helped him improve offensively since he hasn't been great at going to the FT line.

So I think it has been more of a choice than a lingering injury up till now.

100% agreed. It seemed like we could just outscore anyone anytime with ease. The Hydra was in full effect and we were getting points from all over the place to the point that teams had to play to get the bad option instead of the worst option against us. It was a fun season capped off by a big cold slap in the face when we exited the playoffs in a series we absolutely should have won. I remember during the season thinking that the way the Jazz were playing there is no way any team could catch us four games out of seven having an off night.
