Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

I'm telling you this is payback by the Jazz for the constant destabilization and tampering by the Knicks culminating with their reps showing up at Salt Lake late in the season The ultimate "F you" to the Knicks by dangling Donovan then ultimately deciding to keep him or send him to the Nets lol

Yeah, they dont get discounts. They got to pay the tax.

Utah holds the leverage IMO.

Plus CAA wants Donovan to look good. He isnt going to look good on a tanking team even if he puts up great stats (which is the best case scenario, he might see his efficiency drop off a cliff). He could easily lose out on an all-star appearance for his career if he stays in Utah.

The CAA/Knicks tie allows this to have added need for the Knicks FO. Not only do they want Donovan for themselves, they also want to actively get Donovan out of Utah. Us keeping Donovan increases the pressure.
I don’t see us as having all the leverage. For example the Knicks have already done their offseason business and if they don’t get Donovan they have a team. We have a bunch of maneuvers to do with Bogey, Mike, Bev, JC… I think we’d tear it down and tank around Don at this point but they also might have some guilt/shame and forego some of those opportunities. He could also get hurt or start making things messy. Let it roll for a little while if you need to… but this needs to be resolved going into training camp imo.

Not sure how far off they are but at some point you consider settling… it sounds like the package they countered with is pretty substantial so middle ground shouldn’t be that difficult and what we get may not be THAT critical.

I just need it to be today already.

Conley or Bogey. AFter those, probably Beverly and Clarkson.
I am a bit worried the Utah might be asking for too much.

I’m on the other end. This is happening all very quickly. I’m worried we are settling. Obviously we don’t want Don playing for us to tank properly but we still have three months until the season starts.

I’m afraid we are going to settle for something dumb like Fournier, Toppin, Quigley, two firsts and a pick swap which is not nearly enough IMO.

I’m just saying… the Heat package isn’t all that bad if they moved Lowry for a 1st…

Ainge doesn't settle.

I mean, the Knicks might have a team but it won’t be a very good team. Don could change that. Hopefully he won’t but he could.

Dude what lol that will never happen and is not even close to what the deal would be.

Based on the rumored asks and what people are saying that should not be a concern.

Sure… if they play well to start the season the pressure to get Don also lessens.

But if Trader Danny legit knows that putting Donovan in the worst possible scenario would actually strengthen his ability to bargain....

Just get it over with please. Even if we have to get a slightly worse deal, the waiting is agony. (I'm sure Ainge doesn't feel this way and I'm sure I will forget about the agony once I see our treasure trove).
The best assets are the ones we have control over. And there’s more return coming as the Jazz have a **** ton of useful players that they are looking to move.

I’m ready. I might be wrong but I am just ready to move on.

Does it seem like we have bought the car and now are haggling on the particulars for the goop they put under the car for corrosion protection?

In spite of the tedium of twiddling thumbs, I’m happy if Ainge is being patient. Hoping he’s being patient. Jazz aren’t desperate. We know we can lose with DM and don’t mind that at all. He checked out last season. Good. Keep it up. Don’t move him until NYK’s patience gets the better of them. Love it.

I don’t see that as all something he can control and I also see that scenario hurting his value as much as helping.
