Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

You don't keep all the picks. You move them for different drafts and players.

Except we lose leverage. Everyone will know packaging all of them together is impossible and no one wants them all so selling one off essentially becomes selling one off at 70 cents on the dollar.

Also, and I’m not sure this has been said but having eight 1sts in one draft isn’t ideal. Right now we have three in 2023. I’d strongly consider taking New York’s but not Dallas’s and instead get a 2025 1st, 27 and 29 (that’s only three 1sts) with very minimal protections as well as 1-2 pick swaps AND the 2024 2nd from Detroit (should be top 35-37) and Detroit’s 2025 2nd as well. Those are really solid picks that could be almost as good as say a Miami 1st.

The upside of 2023 picks is that you can always flip them for future picks. If we end up with a '23 surplus, teams wanting to get into the first round will be happy to trade favorable 2024/2025 picks for whichever ones we don't want to execute.

Timing will always be important. A pick today in this year's draft is worth more than the same quality pick in a draft 3-5 years from now.

They would all be on the same timeline.

That would be an interesting, unprecedented approach. Draft eight guys, and have them really bond and sort of form an NBA version of the Fab Five. Gotta get absolute gym rats though. Guys who are hypercompetitive, have elite work ethics but aren’t white stiffs either.

John Stockton and Larry Bird were pretty good.

Not true at all. Unless the picks are all late they have great value. The most valuable players are those on rookie deals.

Those 2024 and 2025 Detroit 2nds could be great very early 2nds. We gotta get those.

NYK 2023 (top 7 protected) Dallas 2023, NYK 2025 (top 6 protected) NYK 2031 unprotected, a 2026 pick swap, and both Pistons 2nd rounders.

I guess we would have five firsts (I have no interest in the Pistons or Washington ones) and we could use 3-4 of them to move up and keep another…so I retract my statement.

So one source says imminent and the other says months
What is it please
It's pretty crazy, right? The Monty Show has the EXACT SAME sources as Woj and Windy, they just tell him identical information 1-2 days later after its already been reported. It's a shame too - if he got it at the same time, more people would take him seriously rather than rolling their eyes at a kid with little basketball knowledge and even fewer NBA contacts trying to make money through a content platform by pretending to be an NBA insider.
