Who would win in a 7 game series.

Team S.
Dwight Howard- 04//Karl-Anthony towns
Kevin Garnett - 95//Dave Cowens
Kawhi Leonard - 11// John Havlicek
Reggie Miller-87//Sidney Moncrief
Russell Westbrook//Kyle Lowry

Vs.

Team M.
Patrick Ewing- 85//Marcus Camby
George Gervin- 74/ Amare Stoudemire
Klay Thompson 2011//Michael Redd
Ray Allen 90’s//Bruce Bowen
Steph Curry - 09//Kyrie Irving

Team M has quite the shooting team. Team S has a more defense and nastiness. Tough call.
Don't under-rate Ewing, Thompson, Camby, and Bown on D though. The others can hold their own at least. I think M wins this one based on one position largely: Westbrick vs Curry. In Curry's best season he was nigh unstoppable. You could argue nearly every other position is a push, but this one makes the series.

George Gervin gets eaten alive by KG, that’s not a push. It’s an absurd mismatch.

Yep. The Iceman was a SG iirc. Even if we call him a SF, he’d get pummeled by KG.
He was a long wing and was great. Ahead of his time. But also four inches and 60 pounds lighter than KG, wasn’t a good defender, and especially wasn’t a post defender. Also made 0 All-NBA teams.

The topic of the team rebounding gap has not been mentioned. That usually gets ignored in these contests. Dwight and Ewing are a wash but at three other positions it is comically lopsided. That’s just in the starting lineup.

That is because he has Gervin out of position. Gervin was a scoring machine. And his best seasons he was plus defender, with +1 DBPM and over 1.5 steals and blocks per game. He scored 25 ppg or more 7 times. He was no slouch. Don't give in entirely to recency bias. Yes he is out of position against Garnett, but it will be a tough cover for any defender to keep up with Gervin. He should be starting Stoudemire and bringing Gervin off the bench, imo.

Um, Gervin made NINE all ABA and all NBA teams. And 12 all-star games.
