Time to trade Fool's Gold

I agree with many Jefferson's faults listed by the OP. However, name one other person on our team who does not get shut down by a single defender. The reason Jefferson gets his number called and people feed him the ball is because no one else seems willing or able to create a high-percentage shot. When Favors' and Kanters' post game is more developed, or when Millsap has reliable moves out on the floor, then trade Jefferson. Jefferson is a ball-stopper and people tend to stand around and watch him, but quite often it's the only alternative to somebody chucking from the wing. Not sure if you've noticed, but our guards/wings are not great shooters.

I would move AJ for some talented SF/SG who could shoot. I agree about AJ's black hole. He does pass more than he use to but he reverts back to standing still and pump-faking until he has to force up a shot. I wanted to keep AJ but I am ready to let Millsap/Kanter/Favors/Evans man the PF/C position this year.

I would move Bell and CJ for picks.

I am almost ready to get rid of Harris but I just don't see a trade that makes the Jazz better.

I'd be willing to trade CJ. I'd also be willing to switch Bell and Burks' priority in the rotation.

Last night the 30+ year old player on a one year deal got as much playing time as Hayward and about 5x as much as Burks in a blowout. Great coaching. As for Jefferson I have no doubt KOC is open to trading him. Hardest part will probably be getting someone to take his salary. Denver just signed Nene to big money so they are probably not an option.

Trading Jefferson instantly makes the Jazz better. So trade him for trades sake.

No. You don't throw away a 20/10 guy and instantly get better. Al has his flaws, but players that can put up numbers like that will always have value around the league. His contract is the problem. In order to get some value, fans better hope he can play like he did in the last half of the season last year. Dumping him just to have him gone is silly.

Harris is the same trouble some for us but Hey if we trade Al for PG what next, we stay with to rookies in the middle Kanter, Favors (what about INJs) it's very difficult trade both

There's a reason the teams he's on have bad records. Just sayin.

Pau gasols team had a bad record before he went to LA.
just sayin.
Zach randolphs teams had a bad record before last year.
Just sayin.

There are plenty of examples of good players on bad teams that once they get on the right team then suddenly they are playing on a team with a good record.

Oh and the jazz at one time last year had a great record with big al starting on the team.

Having said all that....im not a big fan of al and wouldnt mind seeing him traded.
I just dont think that you can say without a doubt that jefferson was the reason minnesota and that boston team had bad records.
I believe that those teams would have been bad even without jefferson, just like we wouldn't suddenly get better if jefferson was gone for nothing in return.

Pau Gasols teams went to the playoffs. Granted 1st round sweeps but I would not really count that as a bad record.

Jefferson's not the best Center you could have. But why not try this starting front court combination:

C - Favors
PF - Millsap

You have your scoring with Millsap (as was seen by our previous game vs Lakers - the man can score! That frees up Favors to roam around blocking shots/rebounding. And the occasional put-backs and alley-oops.

Jefferson can then come in with the 2nd unit and I think he'll be more effective against 2nd rate defenders. I'm not big on Jefferson, but I do see that as a role that he could be useful in.

True.... i stand corrected and didn't use very good evidence, but my point remains.
basketball is a team sport and it seemed as if homeytennis was laying the blame for the poor records of the t-wolves, celts, and jazz all on big al.

Just start Favours and Millsap together. Make Al a backup C and give him no more than 20min.
Put him to opposite backup C and give him the chance to eat him.

But hey, no way TyC will make this happen. We will start BigAl (big salary) and Bell (veteran) until the chances of playoffs will be gone and everybody just don' care..
