Who and where are these young players who are possible future starters and currently available on 10-day contracts? Why not someone (much) younger with actual upside? A player who might even develop into a core piece in the future?

Yeah we could sign some high level prospect that could grow eventually into a very nice backup pg… you think the waiver wire is brimming with talent right now?Are we sure we want to use these manoeuvres to secure the services of a has-been like Dunn? Whether Dunn turns this stint into an NBA deal or not, he's not gonna be in the league in four years. His lack of shooting will take care of that.
Trouble is, we have like four backup PG's now and no starters.Yeah we could sign some high level prospect that could grow eventually into a very nice backup pg… you think the waiver wire is brimming with talent right now?
Getting a solid backup pg on a minimum deal is quite helpful in filling out the rest of the roster. If Dunn simply captures 80% of what he was but now he has more experience and BBIQ… that’s about as high of an upside as you will find in a minimum guy this time of year.
Didn't say anything about starting. You can be a core piece while playing off the bench.Who and where are these young players who are possible future starters and currently available on 10-day contracts?
Dunn's purpose is to play basketball on a team that is weak at PG and weak at perimeter defense...Didn't say anything about starting. You can be a core piece while playing off the bench.
Also, any player you bring in from the G League on a 10 day deal is obviously a long shot to stick in the league. That applies to Dunn as well. It's no accident he's been toiling in basketball purgatory for a while. There's just no market for his brand of ball-dominant, non-shooting PG play these days.
I guess the question is, what are we trying to do? What is Dunn's purpose? He's not a future asset, and it's laughable to suggest he's some kind of a final piece to a make-the-playoffs puzzle this season.
It's just weird.
We barely got past OKC (losers of 6 of their last 10) and beat a tanking SA that may be the worst team in the league. And we didn't play well in either game. Maybe hold off the confettiAnd Dunn has been a positive contributor to two wins now, so maybe he is the final piece to making the PO this year....

Ok, so we beat two teams were we played poorly because Dunn helped. Maybe we lose one or both of those without him. You're being really strange on this Dunn thing. We barely got past OKC (losers of 6 of their last 10) and beat a tanking SA that may be the worst team in the league. I have no suggestions. But I also have no problem saying we shouldn't bring in any more guys who fit the (flawed) general player profile of many of our current guards. So, who are the young players that you would bring in?
You have a really strange dislike of Dunn. We are talking about a minimum contract guy who is an elite defensive caliber player. On a 15 man roster there is room for a guy like that. Are we sure we want to use these manoeuvres to secure the services of a has-been like Dunn? Why not someone (much) younger with actual upside? What exactly is the profile of JC / THT / Ochai and how does Dunn fit the same profile? Because I can't see what you're seeing.I have no suggestions. But I also have no problem saying we shouldn't bring in any more guys who fit the general player profile of many of our current guards.
He's not elite at anything. If he were, he'd never have fallen out of the league. You have a really strange dislike of Dunn. We are talking about a minimum contract guy who is an elite defensive caliber player. On a 15 man roster there is room for a guy like that.
Players available on 10-day contracts aren't elite. Surprise. He's not elite at anything. If he were, he'd never have fallen out of the league.
So... maybe some overlap with THT and no other guard?Anyway, I just have a problem with non-shooting, over-dribbling point/combo guards.
Ochai is a wing and he can shoot. What exactly is the profile of JC / THT / Ochai and how does Dunn fit the same profile? Because I can't see what you're seeing.
Not a surprise to me. I corrected someone who called Dunn an elite defender. He's anything but.Players available on 10-day contracts aren't elite. Surprise.
If not counting Ochai, there are two guards. JC doesn't fit that bill either. As for the guard rotation, we just have too many guys now who are either unwilling or unable to play off the ball and/or space the floor.
Do we? If you have no starter is it bad to have 4 backup pgs.Trouble is, we have like four backup PG's now and no starters.
Hey, we'll see how long the honeymoon lasts (I'm supposing they'll keep Dunn for a longer haul). Don't worry, I'll eat my crow if it comes to that.Kris Dunn must have smashed this dude's mom.
