Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Pre-mavs series I was saying we should consider a blow it the hell up trade. You don't want to just trade Rudy and be at Don's mercy. Lauri the convo is different because I think he'd stay for 7-10 years.

I think the tipping point is Scoot, Simons, and a future unprotected pick - if they go over you have to say yes. If that is the offer you have to consider it but could rationalize passing on the deal. They should not offer what it would take... but Minny/Cleveland shouldn't have either.
And I was saying it right after we lost that series, but was thinking it during that horrible ordeal of a season.

I also don't get how people arent absolutely excited about how good Lauri can be. There's more Lauri trade talks than building around Lauri talks and that's lame af. Lauri is like Butler imo where he might not be a top 10 players but I think he has the potential to raise his level of play to that of a top 10 player. Can't wait to see him in the playoffs (on the Jazz).
I mean I am excited for him... I also recognize someone else could get overly-excited on an offer and you consider it. Its like a 2-3% chance they would get wild enough that I'd pull the trigger.

What about Lauri... or any person makes you think they can go Jimmy mode. He's one of one. Jamal Murray seems to raise his level of play in the playoffs and Booker too... saying that about any player is a total guess though. All of those guys are more on-ball than Lauri.

I like Lauri and Plan A, B, C, D... etc. are to build with what he can give us with Kessler. We really need a hit or two in this years draft and to nail a FA/Trade this summer if we are going to build around his timeline (its part physical and part contractual on the timeline thing).

Man can't wait for playoff Simone... That's a Wemby like reach to put those things together.
Yeah, it's not. Lauri is a big time player who stepped it up with real pressure. And maybe playoff Simone is a thing, but he isn't starting at the point that Lauri is. If you don't think there is any equating there I think you're full of ****.

Incredible, keep the Lauri hate coming.
I love Lauri... I think he will excellent in the playoffs. Just like he is excellent in the regular season. I don't know if there is any player that ramps up his performance from the regular season to the playoffs more than Jimmy. I'm sorry I don't think a guys great FIBA performance means he will be able to ramp up his playoff performance by a few levels. If you want to guess and say he will be in a group with the biggest outliers you are welcome to that guess... but its just a guess.

Pressure performances are pressure performances. Period. If you show the ability to step it up when things really matter and you have that grit, it's an indicator. I'm not saying that means it will 100% will happen, but it's clearly an indicator (Giannis/Ginobili/Pau come to mind). If you are arguing otherwise you're just being daft

Jared Bulter would like a word. You also forgot Melo hung all those banners too.

Saying Lauri will go God mode like Jimmy in the playoffs is a guess... I hope its right.

If Jared Butler was good at NBA basketball you might see that translate, but he's not. Again you are bringing in BS that makes no sense. I'm not talking about a NBA scrub going into a phonebooth and coming out of it in a MJ jersey.

And maybe if Melo accepted the role he played in The Olympics at the peak of his career that would be a thing for him. Lauri will play similarly to how he did for Finland for Utah.

Pressure situations are pressure situations... period. Dude crushed it in the tourney in a huge pressure situation... but couldn't make enough shots when there was pressure to keep his job... weird.

I'm not the one making up BS... you are bringing in the FIBA to NBA playoffs thing.

Look if you want to guess based on what happens in FIBA then fine, but its a guess. I am guessing he will be as good and maybe a bit better in the playoffs but not several magnitudes better.

Its also not like we didn't just have an all-NBA center who would do **** in FIBA that he wouldn't do in the regular season, and damn sure didn't do in the playoffs.

FIBA is a different animal.

Again, you're talking about a guy with a significantly different role than from NBA to FIBA/OLY play.

Again, it's like you are being stubborn on purpose. Jared Butler clearly has a limit to his competition level. I'm sure if you put Jared Butler in a league where he was a star quality player like Lauri is in the NBA, that grit/clutch gene would show in those big moments. You keep comparing rotting tomatoes to apples like you think you made a point.

I've never said being clutch in a lower level of competition translates to you being good at a higher competition level.

I love the hypothetical Detroit trade. I would take Jarace Walker. Durable, better body type to match Lauri..good long-term match. Great ball mover and the front court terrorizes the league. Then I would trade 16 and 28 to find a nother good wing player, i.e., Bilal.

And finally I would try to buy back in the 2nd round for Isiah Wong for a quality point guard according to the advanced stats. Not super star but very efficient productive and can play in the league. Otherwise look for a Gleague scrub.

This would be a great balanced team..just need the Conley sauve/grit..

Dunn/Wong/THT
Jordan/Sexton/Bilal
Lauri/Fontechio
Jarace/Gay
Kessler/Jones/Dok

Agreed. Count me in the "trade up for Jarace Walker" camp.
