Dame Time

I'm glad we're not going to get him but it's enjoyable to watch all the rhetoric's in this thread.

If we get Dame I think its because we put Hendricks in the deal with 3 good picks (2 unprotected picks and the Lakers pick). Likely route all expiring contracts to Portland by looping in a third team that wants Sexton. If you are "in" on getting Dame I think that's the price you should consider when making your declaration.

And both Lauri/Dame are better than Murray....

And John Collins is more talented than either Gordon or Porter Jr.

And Kessler has 1st team defense potential.

And Keyonte/Hendricks are promising young players.

And Jordan Clarkson is a 6th man of the year candidate.

And Ochai is burgeoning shooter.

Dame is better than Murray but I think you can make a strong case that Murray is more valuable. Having a guard that can go out and get his while being extremely clutch is a must have in this league. I mentioned in another post that Dame hasn't really elevated his game in the playoffs while Murray is the opposite. In the playoffs he takes his game to near superstar level.

John Collins is not more talented than Gordon. Gordon is the most versatile defensive player in the league while also being solid offensively.

I don't disagree with you about Kessler but he still hasn't proven much.

I like Keyonte more than anyone on this board but he has still proven nothing to this point and the same goes for Hendricks. Over the years there have been a bunch of rookies that I have really liked that have ended up being flops so I'm not going to right them down as solid players immediately.

Clarkson is definitely solid.

I think Ochai is going to be pretty good but he is also still pretty unproven. I still need to see more from him to pencil him in as a long term piece.

That’s fine with me. I’m all in on getting him.

You think Dame couldn’t do what Murray did if he was playing off of Jokic? Give me a ****ing break.

no all-star games
That is a weird argument to make. Murray should have made it over Conley in 2021 and obviously his knee injury through a wrench in his ascension to being an all star the last couple years. Last year he got off to a somewhat slow start shaking off the rust from not playing 1 1/2 years but by midseason he was clearly playing at an all star level. In the playoffs though he has been near superstar level which is something that can't even be said about Lillard.

My guess is Dame eventually winds up with the Heat. I'm so sick of players being able to dictate where they want to go in trades. We're already at a major disadvantage in free agency, and now it's going to be difficult for us to land a star through a trade, even with all of our assets. It's just frustrating.

Maybe and maybe not. We know that Murray takes his game to the next level in the playoffs and most of the time it is him just flat out making things happen and getting his against teams that are gearing up to stop him. We all saw him destroy the jazz first hand and that wasn't just because he was playing with Jokic. He just flat out ate us alive. The players that benefit the most from playing with Jokic are the spot up shooters and Murray does that well but he also creates a ton of his own offense against set defenses the same way Lillard does.

I really don’t think Portland would send him to Miami for goodwill if we have a definite better offer.

Post ASB Murray: 33.5 mpg, 19.4 ppg on 56.4 TS%, 53.9 EFG%, 7 apg, 3 rpg
Lauri last season: 34.4 mpg, 25.6 ppg on 64.1 TS%, 58.7 EFG%, 1.9 apg, 8.6 rpg
Playoffs Murray: 39.9 mpg, 26.1 ppg on 58.6 TS%, 54.5 EFG%, 7.1 apg, 5.7 rpg

Lauri destroys him in the regular season comparison even ignoring the "rust" factor, and is actually quite a bit better at scoring both in volume and efficiency than even playoffs Murray.

I don't think people realize just how good Lauri was last season. His numbers were prime-MVP Dirk tier.

I really hope you're right because we could obviously very easily beat the Heats best offer. I just have a feeling it will end up being a 3 team trade that lands Dame in Miami, but I would love to be wrong.
