Stars Season Opener Game Thread: 8PM Mountain Time

I'm choosing to give TH the benefit of the doubt as he apparently was not feeling ok.
But holy crap dude looked bad out there.

He has more than a chance. He is so skilled offensively and has an incredible shooting stroke. For him it just comes down to health and so far he has done a very good job of slimming down to hopefully reduce the wear and tear on his body.
His reactions to the ball are incredibly slow. He reminds of Clarkson defensively

I just watched the replay of the first half and I didn't think Hendricks looked that bad. He was more active and a little more aggressive on defense, which is what I was looking for.

I'm really not worried about his offense. His future role with the Jazz could be as simple a hanging out in a corner. I'm confident he can figure that role out in time.
As long as his shooting stroke doesn't look broken, I'm not concerned.

too early to tell, feel for the game isn't as NBA ready as billed. Give him time.
This is what I squawked about all draft season as to why he shouldn’t be a top ten pick for our rebuilding team that has Markkanen. He feels like a good 2-3 years from even starting to progress and produce in any meaningful way, which may make it necessary to scrap the current rebuild by trading Markkanen. This is exactly why I didn’t want Hendricks then the jazz went out and traded for Collins and his bloated contract who plays the same position.

A top ten pick in a loaded draft and that’s his ceiling. I hope to god that’s not what he is.

What an awful trade. There was zero reason for it. How does this even help the jazz. We about to be a bottom ten team instead of a bottom five team. We weren’t going to be a playoff team either way. At some point we will go on a winning streak which will destroy the tank and any chance of actually building a contender. Right now we are on a projectory of what we’ve been the last 4-5 years, is that what y’all idiots want?

Remember our No 9 pick did not play for a basketball blue blood in a power 5 conference. He might take awhile to adapt to the speed at this level. That being said I have not been impressed with him at this point.

I wasn't talking about ceiling, just what he needs to do to get rotation minutes. Also, I still believe the 2023 draft was loaded with starter level NBA talent, but not a bunch of stars. The 2023 draft class was a uniquely great defensive class, but not a ton of scoring talent.

You are incredibly wrong about the trade. It blocks nothing.

His only made basket was one of the uglier moves I have ever seen.

I think Hendricks only did individual workouts and it shows why. The dude looks awful on a basketball setting around other NBA prospects.

I think the most frustrating part about the Hendricks pick is it was the safest pick we could have made. 9th player on our board with the 9th pick. Why didn’t we move up and get someone we really wanted? Cost couldn’t have been that much.
