The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread

There is a patch of rubble in eastern Ukraine that used to be a small town called Stepove. It has been a Russian objective to take that ground in the effort to encircle Avdiivka. The problem for Russia is that there are Bradleys there and they are killing everything the Russians throw at them.
Good to know the pentagon wars produced a useful vehicle. Thank you for the update.

I haven't seen that movie but I like the cast and it is included on MAX right now. Will watch.

Unfortunately the US Army is somewhat redoing this piece of history. There is a replacement for the Bradley IFV labeled the XM30 in development but it has been in development for a while from multiple defense contractors.

Can’t post this AWESOME video of a Bradley shidding on a T-90M cause the link has **** in it.

Deep state jazzfanz elites trampling the 1st Amendment. FJB

They’re ****ed.

House Repubs aren’t going to help out Biden. They don’t want to give him a W during an election year. Ukraine will have to hold on until Democrats retake the House.

Voters maybe should’ve thought about these things when they decided to give Repubs the keys to the car in 22. Elections have consequences.

I don't know why you keep trying to blame House Republicans. The House is the only one to have passed a bill to provide aid. It is H.R. 2. If you want aid for Ukraine as much as you claim, then call your Senator and ask them to get a version of H.R. 2 through the Senate. All of this "but House Republicans, but House Republicans, but House Republicans" is misdirection to hide that the Democrat controlled Senate can't get anything done. If the Republicans hadn't won the House then neither chamber would have a bill to get aid to Ukraine.

Say what you want about Speaker Mike Johnson’s cuckoo bird beliefs but the guy seems to be getting the business of governing done, and that includes passing aid for Ukraine.

Weird. I’ve been assured by many armchair MAGA ambassadors here that America started this conflict because NATO or something something. Sounds like Russia just… wants to annex Ukraine to rebuild the Soviet Union because the boss is a genocidal maniac. But that couldn’t be? Our MAGA experts told me otherwise!

I really wish House Repubs had shame. Instead, they want to **** Ukraine over because Trump wants them to. There’s a bipartisan deal to be had. But the House refuses to accept it because Moses Mike doesn’t want to end up like Kevin McCarthy. And the circus clowns who control the House don’t want to help Ukraine.

Just look at what Repubs are saying:

All of your posted articles are nothing but rage bait for stupid people. Let’s take a look at the Rolling Stone piece which leads off with:

“For months now, Republicans in the House of Representatives have been holding major legislation hostage and threatening a full-blown government shutdown over their demands for hardline, extreme immigration reforms.”

Legislation is not being held hostage and there is no full-blown government shutdown. Those who haven’t been turned into pudding brains by too much time in social media silos would know Speaker Mike Johnson passed a bipartisan spending deal. It is done and it wasn’t close. Trump sent out his tweet then the spending bill passed the House with a 314-108 vote. The hard-right bomb throwers couldn’t do anything about it because Speaker Johnson was working with more than enough Democrats to side-line morons like Margorie Taylor Greene.

That bears repeating. Speaker Mike Johnson is working with Democrats to side-line the hard right and keep things moving.

When you say stuff about an issue that has already been resolved like:

There’s a bipartisan deal to be had. But the House refuses to accept it because Moses Mike doesn’t want to end up like Kevin McCarthy.

All it shows is that you are about hate, and hate alone. It doesn’t seem to matter if a thing is true or out-of-date if you can use it to feed your narrative of hate.

1 “significant” bill passed while controlling Congress for over a year, and it’s a time wasting kick-the-can CR. Slow clap bro.

They don't control Congress. The GOP only controls the House and even there the margin is pretty slim. The biggest stumbling block right now for the House Republicans is the completely dysfunctional Senate, and that isn't GOP controlled. When it comes to things like aid for Ukraine, aid for Israel, etc., the House has passed HR-2 and the Senate passes nothing. Earlier this week there was a rumor of a bipartisan deal emerging from the Senate, but nothing emerged. The Senate has become so feckless that they have resorted to leaking rumors of doing things. If the Senate doesn't like HR-2, then pass something and go about the business of reconciliation to get something done.

Speaker Johnson has shown that he's willing to cross the aisle and negotiate in good faith but he has to have something tangible from the other side as a starting point. It can't be HR-2 negotiated against a rumor leaked to the press. The Senate needs to do something, anything to demonstrate that passing a bill related to Ukraine, Israel, and increased border funding through the Senate is possible. I don't care if it has crazy stuff in it where they decide to open huge freedom holes in the southern border and rename the Capitol Building to Pelosi Hall, pass something and then let the negotiations start.

Sorry, not Congress, yes the House.

Yeah….no. The House is the dysfunctional mess, not the Senate. The House speakership chaos wasted 2023 with no legislation passed on any of the issues conservatives claim are national emergencies. Except the same CR that they ousted McCarthy over. They’ve spent their time letting their fringe minority throw **** everywhere and screwing each other over, while pointing at the democrats and whining about Trump.

The senate on the other hand has been quietly working with dems on Ukraine, immigration, and have lead Johnson by the nose on keeping the gov open. All the while saying nothing about Trump.

March will be very interesting and most likely not surprising if you’re a betting man.

The House speakership chaos wasted 2023...
If you are talking, admittedly recent, history then I agree with your point. The Speaker of the House debacle was embarrassing for the entire United States government but for the GOP especially. It is a black eye that will take some time to recover from. If you are comparing the Senate to the House through all of 2023 then there is no contest that the House was a train wreck while the Senate only took a step backwards to make sure they didn't interrupt the GOP from destroying itself in broad view of the public.

If talking the House now under Mike Johnson then we're going to have to agree to disagree. I'm not saying Mike Johnson is God's gift to governance but I think the big responsible players in the House are realizing the damage done and the gears are now greased like they haven't been for decades. Between the House and Senate now in 2024, it is the Senate that by comparison cannot get anything done.

Watched the flick. It was great! Thanks for the recommendation.

With decades of hindsight, it is amusing to see some of the things they were making fun of have turned out to be amazingly potent on the battlefield. An example was poking fun at the 10 foot height of the Bradley making it too big to be a scout vehicle. Because of that crazy design ask, we now know how much of an advantage it is to have an elevated position for the main gun on scout-type vehicles and you can see that lesson learned in the designs of the more recent MRAP....

... or M-ATV.

The movie also poked fun at scratching off the naked rooftop machine gun and replacing it with a turret capable of handling the 25mm chain gun. It turns out that Bushmaster chain gun is what makes it so deadly to the Russian T-72 tanks which were also from there era. That said, the Bushmaster is not capable of punching through the armor of the new Russian T-90 tank. As a side note, the A-10 Warthog also cannot punch through the armor of a T-90. That tank is extremely tough. Higher definition footage of the Bradley vs T-90 tank has since hit the net, and you can see that the Bushmaster rounds cannot penetrate the T-90 armor.

The way the Bradley's destroyed the T-90 was in the optics and fire control of the Bradley being so good that even at a half mile while moving, they could pick off the optics of the T-90 and blind it. The Bradley's replacement is getting a bigger gun.

Wow! There is a bipartisan bill that has passed the senate you say? You should tell that to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer who said there was a chance they could begin crafting a bill next week.

"Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters after the White House meeting that he puts chances of a deal at “more than half,” and later said they could begin processing the legislation as early as next week."

...And this article from 15 hours ago seemed to echo Chuck Schumer's incorrect understanding in saying they hope to have something next week.

"Senate negotiators are close, however, they have not reached a deal on a supplemental foreign aid package. The package would also create border security and immigration reforms in the U.S. The principal lawmakers are working out the details and hope to have something to vote on within a week."

All of these Senators and all the news outlets mis-reporting there being no agreement yet in the Senate sure must feel silly in forgetting that they already came to an agreement, put it up for a vote, got it passed, and it is now sitting on Mike Johnson's desk.

What happens if this nation gives republicans the House in a few months? Will our military aid for Ukraine dry up? What happens if Trump/DeSantis take over in 2025? There’s no love lost between Trump and Zelensky. Nothing in fact would please Trump more than to help his idol out in that war bu delivering Zelensky’s head on a plate.

I actually wonder if that’s the calculus for Putin now. Just wait this out until stupid voters do stupid things and deliver the west over to Putin.
As our corporate media has admitted, “Trump is great for ratings!” So just imagine what the ratings would be if America suddenly changes in Jan 2023 or Jan 2025 and begins to help Putin, not Zelensky, out.

We all know Repubs don’t care about what 70 percent of the country thinks. They just need barely enough to win back a gerrymandered House, Senate that favors desolate rural states, and the electoral college. To hell with Popularity, serve your base some red meat, cut deals with authoritarians, and drink snowflake tears!
We’re finding out. I hate being right all the time about this wretched party.

Champagne being popped all over the Kremlin. I told you, Repubs want chaos. They don’t want to give Biden a win in 2024. Ukraine be damned. We have a political game to play!

Trump isn't going to win.

I hope Ukraine can hold the line until after the election. I can't imagine a reason to withhold funding after that, even if Republicans still hold the House and even if they pick up the Senate. Helping Ukraine is helping the U.S.. Once the games are over with and Trump is out of the picture for good I have to believe we do what's right for the U.S. and the people of Ukraine.

I think Ukraine is in trouble. Here’s why:

1. They’re running out of ammo now. We’re talking about an election that’s 10 months away.
2. Republicans will most likely recapture the senate. The map tough and Dems are already down 1 with Manchin retiring. So even if Dems hold the White House and recapture the House, the senate can obstruct and kill any Ukrainian aid. Republicans can withhold aid for as long as they stay in power. Power is the only thing that animates them.

There was a time when both parties would’ve worked together on this. But… sadly… that no longer happens. It’s all about politics, 24/7. How can my team win if I’m a Republican. It’s asymmetrical warfare.
