Jazz trade Fonteccio to Pistons for 2024 2nd

No dudes, these guys have convinced me. The Jazz have completely thrown the towel in on the entire season, and maybe even the franchise as a whole. The front office only cares about one thing: losing as many games and probably as much money as possible. Hey why not zig when everybody else is zagging? It's a bold strategy cotton.

Very true but there are some who have. Jokic, Millsap, Mark Eaton was a 4th round pick. Here are some others. The percentages are against you but there is talent especially at the top of the 2nd round.

  • Cliff Robinson Draft class: 1989 Pick: 36 Team: Portland Trail Blazers ...
  • Toni Kukoc Draft class: 1990 Pick: 29 Team: Chicago Bulls ...
  • Antonio Davis Draft class: 1990 Pick: 25 ...
  • Rashard Lewis Draft class: 1998 Pick: 32 ...
  • Manu Ginobili Draft class: 1999 Pick: 57 ...
  • Gilbert Arenas Draft class: 2001 Pick: 31 ...
  • Carlos Boozer Draft class: 2002 Pick: 35 ...
  • Kyle Korver Draft class: 2003 Pick: 51 ...

Of course. But the list of second round picks who were out of the NBA within a couple of years can fill a book.

Look… if you’re agreeing with TU about something chances are you aren’t on the right side of the argument.

TU is negative on pretty much anything. In some creative ways I might add lmao. But if you’re always on the opposite side of TU, you’re doing the same thing just being a homer. There’s no critical thinking going on.

i really don't get it.

Also, great messaging to any potential free agents / euro signings .... "hey sign with us, then at some point we'll basically publicly call you a piece of trash by trading you to the Pistons for nothing"

depressing

Pistons fans feel like they overpaid. John Hollinger feels like the Pistons overpaid.

Simone (and his agent) are probably thrilled because now the Pistons have to justify the capital they just paid for him and are more likely to overpay on his next contract, where the Jazz would have lowballed as much as possible.

Everybody wins! Except for us who have to read your comments.

All of you who act like the sky is falling ask yourselves these questions:
  • How many players do we have that are better than Tec? I say 6 at least.
  • How many 3&D wing defenders are there who are better than Tec? I say he is maybe fringe top 20.
Im not a fan of this trade either, but its not causing me massive FOMO. We can EASILY upgrade on his role.

Lets pass the final judgement on trading away the 7th best player in a .500 team after we see if there are other moves.
Simone was a top 5 player this year and arguably the 3rd most important player in winning games this season. His spacing is what has allowed Sexton and Dunn to operate the way they operate.

Make a list. It's a broad category of players that I have no idea how you are defining it. Fringe top 20 is still an extremely valuable player. In a playoff series Simone's value only improves.

A guy who can give you 14 pts/36 mins on 60% TS while spacing the floor and being a positive on the defensive end would start on a lot of teams.
Okay, name 5 teams and explain which sf gets bumped from the lineup.

feel free not to. I'm sure Simone and his young family are just thrilled to be in Detroit

You can debate just how good Simone is, but I think it's inarguable that the Jazz just made a trade knowing they will likely get worse and their chances at the playoffs are also worse. If you can't acknowledge that reality you are lost in the sauce. They don't care about making the playoffs this season.

Okay, slow your roll there cowboy. Using per36 is not an argument winner. I like Simone, but come the **** on man.

The amount of people who are acting like 6'8 40% (not extremely high, but pretty high) volume shooters who are positive defenders just grow on trees is wild.

i abolutely hated the last trade with detriot. i ranted and i raved we trade Bojan Bogdanovic for KO. if i have a flaw its that i love jazz players too much and overvalue them. now i love KO and dont want to see him traded unless we get lots back in return. dare i say 1 restricted FRP. anyway, i now love Tech. didnt want him traded, but im not going to flip out and rant and rave like i did when Bojan was traded. do i think its a great trade, no. could it end up okay maybe. are there business reasons to make this trade yes. it opens up playing time and we dont have to pay 12-15 million he is likely to earn next year.

If you need to get ultra-lucky for it to be a good trade, then it's not a good trade. Is it possible for a second round pick to become as good as Tec? Sure. Is it likely? No. Like I said, only one in five second round picks stay in the NBA long term. The chances of that pick hitting are low.
I do think you have to look in the 25-35 range when doing that stuff. There are usually 2-3 guys in that range that hit in a given year. The hits can be huge though so its like 3-5% chance at Brogdon/Bane/Hart/Herb Jones and like 15-20% chance at Nembhard, Donsunmu type and 80% chance at nothing.

I do think those picks in the 30s will be hot commodities on draft night(s) so it gets us in some more conversations.

A long wing with athleticism, can get his shot off at 40%, international experience, good defender, excellent team player and part of a tight team chemistry. Yeah not interested in that

You are really, really placing a lot of value on a guy who scores 9 ppg, has a -1 rpm and a 116.7 drtg per NBA.com.
