Has anyone poked their head into the online Trump communities recently? Are they in denial? Have any started to jump off the wagon yet? I'm guessing it's probably a little too soon to see any substantial movement.

There has been a lone poll from Reuters/Ipsos that showed Trump losing ground, but all others show Trump's Approval rating in positive territory and rock solid. FiveThirtyEight has Trump at +6.3, and the RCP average has Trump at +5.4. America seems very happy with their choice of President.

Ultimately what is going on is a Chinese company created a large language model similar to chatbot and it takes a lot less energy to run it and they did it with 2nd and 3rd tier equipment. Nvidia is making most of its money these days by selling equipment for running/developing AI models. They make the premium stuff.

From what I understand, Deepseek is Open Source AI model that is on par with what we have in the US, but developed for 1/1000th of the cost our best companies have invested into their own models. This has a lot of implications but the biggest is that American companies did not have the monopoly on AI development that they thought they had. Secondary would be that this Chinese firm was able to overcome their resource deficit through algorithmic efficiency proving that the resource (that companies like Nvidia sell) requirement may not be as high.

LOL. The Libs are owning themselves. As I pointed out in another thread, Trump is a populist. He takes up things that have an 80% approval rate, and Dems reflexively take up the side that gets them owned.

On the pro-Trump side, he's brought back a level of competence, power, transparency, and purpose the US hasn't seen in a long, long time. There was an article speaking to that idea in lefty The Atlantic.

Biden did not cause eggs prices to go up, bird flu did. The stock market dip was not on Trump, it was from China's new AI. This **** is insane. Both of these parties have gone off the rails in many aspects. Trump has been in office nine days and somehow inflation is now his fault? I just don't get it.

The truth the Dems and Republicans in power put up candidates that they want, and the average person has no voice, and the average voter generally does not want any of the candidates the caucuses put forward. It is a system designed to let people in power keep it, and the lobbyists get what they want. Biden was absentee president, especially the last two years, with a corrupt family. A guy that said he'd only run one term and never pardon his family. Trump is an egotistical tyrant that is also corrupt. Yet somehow people support them and act like their counterpart supporting the other candidate is morally broken. Why do we accept these candidates?

Both parties do a great job of hitting on hot button issues and calling each other names like Nazi, fascist, woke, socialize, commie, etc., and talking on hot button issues, trans, guns, abortion, etc., to distract their constituents and keep them voting to keep these assholes in power.

I have many friends and colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and they generally have substantially more in common politically than not. And very few truly wanted Biden, Kamala or Trump.

The difference between RFK and Kamala is that Kamala has no logic, thought process, have no standards or beliefs, can be manipulated and would be a terrible president. At least RFK could have a conversation in depth with many topics; he has a history of health and environmental beliefs and has stood up for his beliefs.

So yeah, I would take RFK every day over Kamala.

One party is a moderate liberal political party that abides by norms and the constitution. It has good leaders and not so good leaders. Sure, it isn’t free from corruption but it’s within normal limits of western democracies.

While the other is a reactionary party with a cult leader aspiring to destroy democratic norms and establish a racist illiberal authoritarian state like Russia and Hungary. Over 1,500 violent Jan 6 insurrections were pardoned just a week ago and folks like you claim they’re two sides of the same coin? Unreal.

It’s posts like these that remind me how and why so many countries fall into dictatorships. There’s a significant portion of the electorate that will normalize anything. They’ll spin any crime, rationalize any extremism, justify any grievance, and normalize any leader or policy because they refuse to see the uncomfortable reality staring them straight in the face.
