Heh, I'm liking Hayward the best right now. He's obviously not the best player we have, that's Millsap. Millsap is really the only guy that looks like he is an above average starter in the league. We got some guys that might get there, but, right now, he's our best player.
But, I like me some Hayward, and I'll tell you why. Dribble penetration. I'm not sure how he does it, it seems like he just puts his defender to sleep, but, Hayward has a knack for dribbling past his defender and getting into the paint unlike any Jazz player I've ever seen. He's not lethal once he gets there yet, but, I think that'll come, because once you get into the paint you have so many options, he's just got to learn how to utilize his ability better. I think he will.
It's the reason I don't sweat choosing him over Paul George. George does some nice things on the floor, but, I'm not seeing that ability to penetrate from him. I think he's going to be one of those D and 3 players, where Hayward could end up more like Paul Pierce. We'll see. I'm not too worried about the pick right now myself though, I think if he avoids major injury he's going to prove to be an offensive force at some point in the future. And he's not too bad at defense either. Recently we've seen him matched up against Kobe and Chris Paul and I thought he held his own against both.
No, I'm not saying he's a stopper. I'm just saying that he's not a guy the other team will iso every trip down the floor because he can't guard his own shadow. He's not bad at all, man or help.
So, yeah. I like Hayward.
