Game Thread NBA Draft Lottery - May 12, 2025

Added to Calendar: 05-12-25

Here's the problem with the Jazz: The fans rabidly support the team no matter who is on the court. So there's no benefit to giving the Jazz a high lottery pick. We're a bunch of happy campers either way.

If we were rioting or burning Donovan Mitchell jerseys and calling for so-and-so to be fired, then we'd get more attention.

It stinks bad.

Lebron leaves Cavs... they get 2 consecutive first picks.

Luka to LA. They get the first pick.

Lebron in the draft is from Cleveland... who gets the number 1?

Derrick rose is from Chicago... who gets #1?

Hurricane Katrina - New Orelans devastated... who gets the #1 pick?

If there is a major news story thst jeopardized a fan base, the league plays gods with the top pick.

Honestly, I dont know if I am watching a single game next year.

Just like Wemby lotto night. Not only is it a terrible Jazz result, but just everything else was as bad as it could be too. All these ****ing teams jumping ahead of us.

Not sure the fanbase is going to be in any mood for that. I know I'm not.
Still
Fanbase doesn't make the decision to tank or not

Obviously I wanted us to win and obviously I’m sitting on here for results, but I didn’t have nearly as much anxiety as I normally would. It’s kind of why I’m glad I’ve stepped back a large bit the past few years. We all love draft and the hopes of endless possibilities, but a bird in hand is worth so much more than a multitude in the bush but everyone felt they got burned bad enough to think our chances of winning it all are higher taking this route. Here we are. In recent threads, people have referred to our picks we got from Donovan/Rudy as “basically second rounders,” so ironically the most we may get out of all this is… our own picks. So you can tank the entire season and win the tank race and be here. It’s disappointing but really not that shocking to me. This is the reality of that path we took. We determined it’d be easier to get to a championship this way.

In reality, had we won this year, we would still need to take next year and land a high pick. That is, if we’re going to be contenders. It’s still such an uphill battle and the odds of us going g from here to contender in any soon-ish history (a decade) is so, so much smaller than our odds of having gone from where we were to championship before we blew it up. Just kind of the way it is and accepted that a few years ago, and the investment I’ve put into other avenues of my life have been much better for it.

As a Mormon I never once prayed for him unless you count all the please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please, in my head. haha
So it's your fault! They needed one more prayer, that's all they needed! Thanks a lot!

The silver lining is that you simply can’t hope to tank your way out of a bad situation. You have to be proactive, not reactive. Jazz can’t be passive in building their team moving forward.

Not sure how the Jazz fix this, but hoping I’m definitely hoping Tre Johnson ends up being a franchise caliber player.
i hate to burst your bubble, but trey is not a franchise player...
