I'm not all that high on Maluach myself but the HOU game was an aberration. That was the day they announced the whole thing with the South Sudan visas. There were some serious things he was going through. I need to dive into other games to get a more complete opinion but I am more inclined to give him the benefit on that game for now.

How long did it take for Jokic to become Jokic though?

To me you look at what he could do now and learn to develop.

Great size. A willing passer. Developing offense with good shooting mechanics. Decent defense.
 
Malauch just makes no sense when you have Kessler. And even if the grand plan is to trade Kessler, it still doesnt make sense because you dont want to start your rebuild off with a rim runner center when there is anyone of scoring talent on the board.

I'll concede that 0 rebounds for a 7' big is not a good look. It was the biggest stage and he laid an egg. It was a bad day. I could also point out bad game by other players as well. Tre had an 0-14 game against Oklahoma. I'm not saying there isn't stuff to be concerned about but I also wouldn't be overly swayed by 1 bad game unless you see a flaw that might be indicative of his overall game.
