2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Giannis gets his buddy back and some guard help. They get the late first from Boston. Jrue's contract is dicey. Boston gets enormous savings this year and next. By moving the first they can give a lower salary number to the prospects they take in the second. I think their tax is like 7 or 8x for every 1$ right now... so saving 6M plus a couple mil on roster spots is like 50-60M in savings. Next year they are out of the tax hell since Collins and Zinger expire. We get the 2031 Bucks pick unprotected.

Really stupid modification. Sexton goes to Boston (we can maybe send Sexton elsewhere to a 4th and a different role player coming back to BOS). Porzingis goes to MIL with Jrue.

Side note....MLE can now be used as a trade exception now. The Jazz should have the full MLE this summer. Sexton's contract is such that we could trade him for a player that gets paid $12M, it would be legal by salary matching ($7.5M + incoming), and it could fit into the MLE. So we could send Sexton to the 4th team with a $12M player, we take the player back into a trade exception, BOS gets away with sending out Jrue and Porzings and only taking back Collins in salary. That is some mega mega bucks savings for them.

Trade without picks and Sexton destination sorted out:

Jazz trade Lauri Markkanen + 5 to the Spurs for Keldon Johnson + Harrison Barnes + 2

I think this trade makes sense for both teams but not sure if the Spurs pass on selecting Harper.

Jazz trade John Collins + Jordan Clarkson + Svi Mykhailiuk + 5 to Celtics for Jaylen Brown

Celtics save a ton of money, get 5, tank next year with Tatum out (they own their own pick). Then have a younger team around him when he comes back in 2026-27.

Is this the type of move we should be making right now? Probably not but it’s interesting. We could actually get a little more wild and add in Sexton + Martin to get Jrue Holiday as well.

Jazz trade Walker Kessler to the Lakers for Dalton Knecht + 2028 pick swap + 2030 pick swap + 2031 unprotected first + 2032 pick swap

This obviously makes us worse next year. Maybe we don’t love the idea of extending Kessler at the contract he might command. 3 swaps and a premium unprotected first plus Knecht for Kessler is more than fair value I think.

Jazz trade Collin Sexton + 21 to the Magic for Cole Anthony + 16

Not sure this is the best value but we do move up 5 spots and it makes us worst next year.

Jazz trade John Collins + Jordan Clarkson + 21 for to the Pelicans for Zion Williamson

I don’t know if this is enough for Zion but the price would be low enough for me to be very interested.

I think Zinger might be cooked. I think Bucks need a great deal to unload that pick. If I was them I'd want Sexton over Zinger but I can see them believing more. Celtics might offer up more than a pick though to do this deal since it really gets them out of jail.

Brook is probably even more cooked, if that's possible. Think Porzingis adds a ceiling to their team that Sexton cannot provide, though they might just want to focus on making the playoffs first so Sexton might be their guy. I think this allows MIL to give up less, but it forces Boston to give up more. Many ways to even out that value by highering/lowering protections and/or making them swaps.

BTW, 4th destination for Sexton might just be MIL itself. Portis is right there in the salary range where he could slide into the MLE. They could add Jrue, Sexton, and Porzingis.

If the Jazz trade Markkanen to the Spurs, it needs to be for more than just a three pick swap. For starters, they need to either include 14, or swap with 21 as well. Even then, I think I’d want more coming back than just two mid vets and Dylan Harper. I’m not against making a deal with them, but it needs to be for real value.

I’m all in on trading Lauri for the 3rd pick to take Tre. I fully believe in him being at least a high level allstar. He just looks to have that it factor. His absolute ceiling is that of a more highly skilled Reggie Miller/Klay Thompson . I’m not saying he’ll be that good but that’s his celling. And he has potential for being a good defender weather people here chose to ignore that he has defensive chops.

I guess I didn't mean cooked on Zinger... I think this virus thing will scare folks off unless its resolved. It seems like they are no closer to figuring it out currently. Lopez is alive but more cooked. Zinger is dead but less cooked lol. Until they resurrect him. But why not do both!

I think that is the type of deal/deals that threads the needle of getting Giannis to believe, reasonable return for the pick, and doable.

Talking trades with my rockets bros and none of them are at all excited about Lauri. Not sure if jazz fans over value him or non jazz fans under value him.

Yeah, why the Hell would the Rockets want someone who can shoot?
My buddies are as sick as I am on the nba. Could hang here but they’re rockets. They’re resigned to giannis to San Antonio and disgusted with Dallas. They want KD for a 1 - 2 year window. Only want to give up Jalen Green

Last one... 2032 heat pick and some swaps would be included. Beal gets a buyout and that is why he waives the no trade. 4 firsts and we tank our faces completely off.

Lied... one more. I want 2026 picks from Western Conference teams. Someone is going home sad and with new lotto odds... it has a chance. Pick must be unprotected.

Kings have a mess going on... I would be calling them a lot.

I like all of them except the jaylen brown one and Im on the fence about the Zion one.

That isn’t going to happen. We’d be lucky to just do my deal.
