Tre Johnson Will Likely be The 5th Pick

Less pressure than if they pass on Ace and he's great
He is the Demarcus Cousins of this draft... not for the reasons Cousins was scary. These guys get GMs fired... either because they take them and they struggle or are headcases... or they look amazing on their other team and the talent was "undeniable".

I think I'm good with whoever lands 5th out of Tre/VJ/Ace... or even moving to #3 if the price is just the 21st pick (if we can get another pick late first we should tho).

One thing I wonder... the FO is feeling some pressure... at least JZ might be. They whiffed on a project with Cody. Taylor likely isn't awesome coming off the injury. Taking a project like Ace could look real bad if he struggles all year. I wonder what their stomach is for another project that could look rough in 12 months.
They could be.

Locke is already in damage control mode in today’s Locked On episode. (Like we cant tell we know what he’s doing).

It wouldn't surprised me if they finally use some of the draft assets to trade up and get they guy they want.

If we were simulating this through NBA 2k none of this would matter and we could just and our hearts out year after year until it sticks. But I think you’re right, in the real world with real human beings this gets more complicated. Like how many guys do we have where we are confident that we want to build with them going forward?

Kessler is probably the closest, and he comes with some uncertainty and question marks on his own.

I’d move up to 3 to get VJ

5 + 21 for 3
I wouldn't. Dude left at 5 might be better than VJ and also might actually in fact BE VJ and dude at 21 might be better than VJ.
And I like more bites at the apple/darts at the dartboard etc

I expect Brice to be dumped this offseason, but if he's not and the Jazz draft two guys, we'll be rolling into camp with 9 guys on rookie contracts, 8 of whom are extremely raw/unpolished and need minutes and touches.

And that would be weird so trading away #21 and the seconds could happen.

I really like him as well.
He did some amazing things in a couple games in the playoffs. Really impressed me. He looks insanely long and athletic and I didn't realize he was so young still.
I would love to know his wingspan in relation to his height and I would guess that it would be in the 99th percentile in the NBA. No idea if that's true but he looks to have crazy long arms when I watch him play
From what I can find on Google he is 6 foot 7, 225 LBS with a 7 foot wingspan.
Not sure how elite that is compared to other NBA players with great length tbh.
38 inch vertical too which I think is pretty good (VJ Edgecomb had about a 38 inch vertical at the combine iirc)

Honestly that is a terrible way to look at things. Dude at 21 could be better than VJ? I mean I guess but that is such a small chance you don’t miss out on your guy because of that. VJ might also not be available at 5.

I have more faith in Cody than most only because of how damn good his brother is. Son’s of NBA players end up great pros usually. I don’t think that’ll be too different for brothers. I think Cody works his *** off in all ways this off-season.

Ya but I would prefer VJ and 21 if I like VJ and since that's a very realistic possibility then I would do that. If I loved VJ way more than ace and tre (VJ is my least favorite of the 3) AND I was reasonably certain he would be gone at 5 then ok.
I haven't seen anything to support either hypothetical scenario so far though (VJ being gone and the jazz loving him)

Jazz want a top 5 (but hopefully higher) pick next year. They should 100% lean into their rookie contract guys to get there. No more halfway ********.
