Yeah they are, he's just not very coordinated. Even if you can barely dribble at all, you should create some separation just with an elite first step and an elite release point and well... He didn't.
Ace's separation issues have more to do with his willingness to hunt tough shots, core strength, and just inexperience. The tools are there. He's extremely athletic.

I just don't think he's coordinated. He has a good vert and lateral quickness, but everything else is super super questionable.
I would say mostly core strength and overall decision making (I guess mindset). He got better at the decision making as the year went on.
I dont think he has to be a separation king to be a great player. He just has to make better choices on the shots he does take.

What issues with separation are we talking about here with Ace? If we’re talking about the separation required to get his shot off…he has no issues with that. It’s incredibly easy for him. The problem is that his shot is a mid range shot.

If he could go to the rim consistently he has Tatum potential and is automatically a #2 pick.
Also you need to be able to get to the line in the NBA to become an All Star, that’s his biggest question mark for me right now.
Same goes for Tre. If either of these guys develop the ability to get to the rim they are all stars, and maybe they can be an all star even without it. Tyler Herro was an all star and I think Tre will have a similar shot distribution. Ace needs to change a lot more on offense and he’s not proven as a 3 point shooter, but he also has more potential as a defender.

Ace likely has the look of a good defender but in reality he is the worst defender of the three and likely one of the worst defenders out of all lottery prospects in this class. Go look up their DBPM/Drtg/DWS or whatever metrics relating to defense you name it.
Most scouting reports also called out Ace's defense especially on IQ/intensity/hustle.

He's literally one of the biggest losers out of the draft combine cuz his tools are not as good as advertised.
