What do you think of Kasparas Jakucionis?

I am not a big draft analyst but I like Kasparas Jakucionis more than anyone being projected at #5 and want to know what others think.

I think he has a good aggression, playmaking, and shooting skills. I think he is going to be much better in the NBA game with spaced floors and foul calls. I think he is will be a star and is the type of player you can win championships with because he will make others better.

I would probably have him #3 on my board. Thoughts? Where would you take him?

He made a lot of step back threes early in the season and that made him look really good.

And then he quit making those shots and he looked really bad.

He just doesn't have good physical tools and I don't think he has an elite BBIQ or anything.

He has really good physical tools and his court vision and passing skills are above average. His 3pt% was low but his shooting stroke is really good so I'm not concerned about him as a shooter. Overall I think he compares favorably to Austin Reaves.

He can end up being really good or really bad. Or just average. Kasparas is 18 yo, he played just one season in college and had a lingering injury.

he has a good ft% (including in Europe). He got a forearm injury and his outside shooting really took a dip. Seems to have good mechanics so I believe in him as a shooter.

For me the question is if he is going to play defense like Luka and Austin Reaves.

Tre Johnson, Edgecomb don't excite you at 5?
They might both be terrific but both seem to be athletes more than ballers. The little I have watched seems like they don’t have great feel. More like a Westbrook but without the insane motor (admittedly I expect them to be better shooters).

I don’t want any more ball dominant players that don’t amplify and connect the rest of the team. I think a path with more Collier mentality and less George is the right path forward.

I don't think anyone can reliable predict how good a player can be when the guy is just 18 and his only college season was interrupted by an injury and he is not a freak athlete.
He didn’t predict anything, he’s just not a fan and can’t get excited for the prospect of drafting him. I’m in that same boat. I’m not saying he’s bad, he may turn out to be the best pg prospect for all I know but there are others I’m more excited about.

i watched KJ a ton during the season and still don't know what to think. i think i like him around 7/8 or so. i do like him better than fears.

No one plays defense as bad as luka

Givony said that this is starting to shape up as an 8 player draft. Kas was not on that list of 8 players. If we were to trade up from 21, he would be my target. He's a guy that can scale down and likely be an efficient role player, or he could maintain what he's did in college and be more of a lead ball handler.

I’m glad to see this thread here. I’m with you. Of the players available at #3-5, I also believe that Kasparas has the best overall tools and physicality to become a great player.

I think Kasparas's ceiling is pretty damn high. He might end up with the ability to pass people open. Elite passing prospect.

Earlier in the season, I had him at #3 on my board. But I see the argument for dropping him down to 7 or 8. The people who have him all the way down at 11 or so have lost their minds, IMO.

So I actually think incorporating some of the consensus opinion is a good way to build a board, but this year I’m gonna do my best to remove myself from the group think and come up with a board with as little outside influence as possible.

I’ve seen enough of Tre, Ace, VJ, Fears, and Kon. Kas will be #3 on my board.

I prefer Kon if we are taking mediocre athlete/high IQ player. Trust Kon more as a shooter and defender and dont believe in Kasparas as a primary creator or scorer.

I wouldn't disagree with the first part. I think Kon is a better shooter and defender. Kon's base outcome where he doesn't scale up is better than Kas if he scales down. But I believe in Kas's upside way more than I believe in Kon's ability to scale up.
