Cody Williams Hype and Appreciation Thread

I expected to see a bit more positivity in this thread with how far he’s come in a single year. He’s already much stronger and more confident than he was last season- reflected in his scoring, rebounding and defensive prowess. I really like the fact that like his brother, he is committed to playing both sides of the ball. He even seems a little longer than Jalen, keep hoping that he can develop some of his brother’s explosiveness. But even if not, he has the euro and the hesitation moves (better more complete than Hood) and is on his way to a productive pro career imo.

Cody looked pretty good in SL last year. It's great for these young guys to get some extra burn, but I don't give a lot of creedence to how someone plays in SL. Hopefully his extra strength pays dividends in the regular season.

I anticipate slow and steady improvement. I wish he'd fix his shot.

We could eventually win a championship and in the post game thread there would be two or three dudes just exclusively bitching about Cody.

There are always going to be players that teams rag on, particularly lottery players that aren't meeting expectations of fans. Hopefully Cody figures things out when the team is on the rise.

I was really happy with what I saw from Cody. But SL is stupid and doesn't matter so until I see it in real games I will continue to have little to no hope for Cody.

If Cody really does get better then...how do we get all these deserving wings minutes? Cody, Ace, Lauri, Hendricks, [Flip]?
There are more than enough minutes, IMO. If all of them are setting the world on fire, I hope that Hardy experiments with some small ball (Hendricks at the 5) to open up more mins.

I dunno... Yesterdays third quarter was easily the best he's looked. As I pointed out in the game thread he was playing with a pace that oozed confidence. By that I mean he was dribbling the ball up court and getting people set, he was getting into position then either taking it confidently to the rim, hitting the open 3, or moving the ball via pass which he has a couple assist. He was playing floor general and in command.

Someone questioned if he could play the 2 and I feel that 3rd quarter CW could easily play the 2 if not the 1 for a rare minute or two. With that all said, I keep saying third quarter CW because he all but disappeared in the 4th offensively though he played good defense. Dating back to college he has always been hot or cold.

I honestly think the Jazz are having Cody lift and work on his body during the season which has contributed to some of slowness and lethargy. On the other hand, having him work on his game BEFORE he gets the body he is going to need is kind of a waste as well. Confident Cody looks pretty smooth and kind of glides. Unconfident Cody looks like a plastic bag in the wind.

I'm really interested in seeing what a "season off" for Hendricks to exclusively work on his body looks like on the floor.
