Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

Effective May 2026.

Likely not political after so many years of the show, but poor timing with the announcement.

it likely was political. According to reporting, Colbert had the highest rated show in that time slot. And we all know about CBS caving to Trump. Silencing one of Donald’s biggest critics is perfect for the dictatorship we’re quickly devolving into.

Surprised they’re still cutting him 10 months slack. They are cutting the show after 30 years, not simply replacing the host. I know he’s at the top in network late night, but I don’t know if late night is at its strongest, so with a 10 month delay while Colbert does Colbert, economics likely played some role. In any case, I hope he makes good use of the 10 months

CBS will probably replace him with Bari Weiss or Tucker. Or maybe Kanye west is available? Our liberal media needs balance!

This is a mental illness. The MAGA delusional universe will be remarked upon by future historians forever. Lucky them, we have to witness it live, lol….

That makes me want to puke. Also makes me like religion less.

Btw, I saw another video of the "assassination attempt" yesterday showing that right after the shots are heard trumps right hand goes up to his right ear and you can see something yellow in it on the way up to his ear. speculation is that it's a fake blood pack.

trump was on WWE and in movies and TV and the entertainment industry many times. He also hired a WWE person as head of the department of education.

It's also weird that he never talks about that day. He never shuts up about the 2020 election but never brings up when he almost "got assassinated"

Also weird that there isn't more cell phone footage from that event. I know maga is out of touch but they still have cell phones I would think.

Yeah, Johnson is a Christian nationalist, and playing up Trump as part of God’s plan for America, makes me think the United States is where the Christian ethos went to die. This is not a healthy Christianity.

But, actually, Trump does talk about that day. It’s fair to wonder if he’s developing a messianic complex, but it’s also easier to believe he’s bull*******, and just using that day for political purposes. But his followers themselves, at least quite a few, are all too happy to adopt this interpretation of Trump. As in the 2018 film, The Trump Prophesy. It does seem possible, Trump is human after all, although barely, lol. Possible that is, that he is willing to believe he was saved in order to “save America”.

Building an empire takes decades. Destroying it can only take a few years, and sometimes the vandals are in the palace, not outside the gates.

For much of the 20th century, American broadcast television revolved around three networks: NBC, ABC, and CBS. William S. Paley, CBS’s longtime CEO, made sure that his company—the Columbia Broadcasting Service—was a leader among them. The network was home to Edward R. Murrow, who brought World War II in Europe home to Americans on CBS Radio; after the war, Murrow’s reporting played a pivotal role in bringing down Senator Joseph McCarthy. Walter Cronkite dominated American evenings from his perch at the Evening News. And from the days of Mike Wallace to the more recent era of Lesley Stahl and Scott Pelley, 60 Minutes set the standard for long-form television reporting.

Yet CBS’s current ownership seems determined to demolish this legacy. This evening, the network announced plans to end The Late Show With Stephen Colbert when the host’s contract ends next May. Late-night personalities come and go, but usually that happens when their ratings sag. Colbert, however, has consistently led competitors in his timeslot. CBS said this was “purely a financial decision,” made as traditional linear television fades.

Perhaps this is true, but the network that once made Cronkite the most trusted man in America no longer gets the benefit of the doubt. CBS’s owners have made a series of decisions capitulating to President Donald Trump, and the surprise choice to allow Colbert—a consistent, prominent Trump critic—to walk seems like part of that pattern.

Wonder if this decision has anything to do with Colbert doing this 3 days ago? For those who don’t want to watch this hilarious clip, Colbert calls out this bribe in as clear a manner as possible.

I think people jump the gun with the Trump Hitler comparisons. I do think a better comparison is a mob boss like Orban or Putin. These guys have huge egos and they want to make a ton of money. Intimidating companies by abusing state power is Putinism 101.

Sadly, this is one of my main takeaways from this era; the ability for the loud angry trumper to steamroll good decent Americans who attempt to placate to these losers. Whether it be librarians, journalists, elections officials, vaccines, LGBT community, immigrants, etc. people try to compromise with fascists and it always bites them in the ***. Utah recently passed legislation making it harder to vote by mail cuz… election fraud in 2020? Cuz… every Republican nominated still won in this ruby red state? But because Donald made a big stink, our legislature tackled a problem that didn’t even exist.

Paramount/CBS was worried Trump would ruin this deal so they have now thrown their news and now #1 comedian under the bus. Other news agencies will likely follow. And that’s how fascism takes over. We cannot have a democracy when senators are afraid that disloyalty to Orange god king will result in family harm (Murkowski), media outlets are afraid the Orange god king will hurt them, and big businesses and rich people are afraid he’ll use the state to destroy their businesses

Yes, that’s why I suggested the announcement was, at the least, really bad timing, IF it really was only a financial consideration. But, I agree with anyone saying CBS has long since destroyed any benefit of the doubt where its dealings with the administration is concerned.

**** like this starts to push me from agnostic atheism to full on gnostic atheism. Atheism generally is just the absence of belief, not actively believing there is no god. But this **** makes me want to stand up in fast and testimony meeting and say "I know for a ****ing FACT there is no God." and then show this **** as proof. **** me. American Christianity is a huge joke.
