Rookie Contract Power Rankings

The Dunc`d On-guys just had their annual Mock Rookie Extension pod in which they ended up with us not extending Kessler this year, but having an under the table deal with him that he would sign for 5 for $130 next off season if we did not trade him before then.

Makes a lot of sense. Could open up ~$15M in cap space for the Jazz depending on how the contract would be structured. I think that number is a little low based on comparables, however. Poetl with AAV of $28M per. Naz Reid signed for 5/$125.

If I’m Kessler and his agent, I’d probably just want to enter the season with a 100% guarantee that I’m a hundred millionaire and get the deal done now. Doesn’t matter how strong that promise seems, I’m putting pen to paper with this amount of money on the line.

From the Jazz perspective, I would heavily prioritize the front loading of his next contract.

Our ATL boys. Anyone want to hyper analyze Kessler’s physique this year?

Dude gained at least 15 pounds of muscle. And a 5% increase in hand pad size. All star here we come!!

Post Pre-season/Pre-Season Rankings:

  1. Ace Bailey
  2. Walker Kessler
  3. Kyle Filipowski
  4. Keyonte George
  5. Walter Clayton Jr
  6. Brice Sensabaugh
  7. Taylor Hendricks
  8. Cody Williams
  9. Isaiah Collier
1-2 was pretty easy. Flip was an easy 3 for me because I think he has a very high ceiling offensively). 4-7 are pretty tough and all roughly tied. I put Cody ahead of Collier because I believe in his defense to be a strong suit. Must see some sort of shooting improvement from Collier to get him out of last.

Can’t really argue with any of this. We’ll see if WCJ hits the ground running or if he’s stuck way behind Collier to start the season.

Agree that 4-7 is incredibly difficult and I have zero idea how I’d rank those slots.
