Training Camp 2025

Would you call it hating if someone called Anthony Davis being injury-prone? Since Lauri came into the league he missed more games than Davis! You can count on him missing 20-30 games like clockwork. And that happened when Lauri was young. You can pretty reliably expect 7-footers to get injured/miss significantly more games when they are getting close to 30.

Last season Lauri played in 47 games, which was his career-low. This summer in the EuroBasket he supposedly played through injuries. I think that pretending that Lauri's health is not a major concern going forward is not particularly productive. If I were the Jazz I would try to trade Markkanen as soon as possible, even if they cannot get much in return.
Nah... but the constant posts wanting to trade Lauri for a pair of used socks and a juicy fruit is.

For me, No trade that includes less than 3 1sts and a young player is even worth suggesting. Yet I have read hundreds of throw away trade ideas and little appreciation for the quality he brings.

I would have thought the same a year and a half ago. But, realistically, Lauri's value has been going down rapidly. Now he is 1.5 years older, on a max contract and after an injury-plagued low-production season. And if, God forbid, his upcoming season is closer to the 2024/25 (and, realistically that's the 25%-30% probability) then his contract would simply become negative. The Jazz may risk getting stuck with the 2024-25 version of Lauri for 4 more years.

Could be wrong (usually am), but I expect a lot of experimentation throughout (at least the first half of) the year to find quality combos.

My big training camp question is who of Love and Martin makes it to the regular season. Yeah, I'm weird.
I would say that the odds favor neither one being on the roster to open the regular season.

And if he had an off year due to the Jazz TRYING to lose... then he restores value. I am bull on the Lauri market. I think it is shocking that so many folks are not. That is all. Dumb echo chamber. We keep talking about the same things over and over. The Jazz are gambling on Lauri restoring his value. I will take that bet too.

Yes, good point. It's both guards.

Something to consider is that Hardy has theoretically been given the green light to go win games. Will that affect his rotations this year?
They better not be serious about trying to win. Would be so lame to end up giving the #9th pick away cause we win games playing vets big minutes.
Heck, it would also be pretty lame to come away with the 7th pick in the draft.

** Keyonte and Brice showing some focus and interest in playing defense.
** What does Hendricks look like/how close is he to playing?
** Can Ace play significant minutes?
** What are the Jazz doing with Kyle Andersen and Kevin Love?
From what I understand, your second part of your second ** is that he is ready to play now? We already know he is healthy right?

It's mostly difficult for me to put together lineups that can work because we only have two players that I have any confidence in defending guards on the perimeter (Harkless and Anderson), and I don't think either player gets close to starter minutes this year.
I don't have any confidence in Anderson defending guards on the perimeter.

Historically he has been very good, but I can't say I paid much attention to him last year. Maybe he's fallen off some.
I really have no idea I just figured slow and unathletic would be poor traits for a perimeter defender. (It's why my worst skill when I played was perimeter defense but I excelled at everything else)

I was glancing at the team's official website and it's kind of a mess. It lists Evan Bradds as an assistant coach and he left to go to Duke on May 1. Also no mention of Coach Woj as an assistant coach. I guess some things aren't important in the Ryan Smith orbit.

Ah ... that didnt' even make it to training camp.
