Think about it. If the Jazz are first five picks, it means that our young players are crap and that Ace played like an inexperienced rookie. That's bad news for the team. If our youth are talented like we think they are, the pick falls down to 7-10 right? while that is a solid pick and we could get a talented player, there's no guarantee that that is going to net us a star, and if the players think we are tanking to keep the pick they lose confidence; not in themselves, but in the team's winning culture. Add to that that it is possible to fall in the lottery and lose the pick anyway. My point is that losing a late lottery pick isn't a big deal, whereas developing our talent is.
