Wemby watch

"Then there was the offseason lore: training with monks, conditioning under the whistle of Kevin Garnett, drilling footwork with Hakeem Olajuwon. Despite only clearing 40 games in 2024-25, Wemby was busy for a guy recovering from a blood clot. But aside from his bill of health, the question around Wemby's potential was always going to be how fast the training and lightning-fast improvement would fully matriculate for him. Could Victor Wembanyama actually grow into a ball-dominant focal point on offense, the way he already is on the less glamorous end of the court?"

Wemby might not be the best player in the league this season but one thing is for sure.
If I could pick one guy in the league to start a franchise with then it would be him. No one else would really even cross my mind.

This is the race to watch this season for sure. Pretty damn close. I would give Jokic the edge right now, simply due to averaging a triple double, and being ahead in rebounds, assists, and virtually the same on points, not to mention efg% (66% vs 53%). But this will make this season fun even while the Jazz tank their way to another predetermined 5th pick.

Jokic is still the best player in the league, by a distance in my opinion.

I really struggle to see Wemby playing a whole season and intense playoffs staying healthy. I hope he does, for his sake. But the Spurs should plan now as the time to go for it. I doubt he has a long career and will likely peak earlier than most players. He could prove me wrong though.

What about Luka Doncic?
He is putting up some great stats
He is #3 in the race
Last time i checked (like 5 days ago) I actually had Giannis at #1
So he should probably be compared as well (I have no idea where he stands currently but I had him first at one point)

Giannis: 32.3 ppg, 12.6 rpg, 6.3 apg, 68% from the field, and 60% from 3. eFG of 70%. 1 Block and 1 steal per game.

His efficiency numbers might make him number 1 overall. Plus he is typically though of as a good defender.

Luka: 40 ppg, 11 rpg, 9.2 rpg. 50% from the field, 30.5% from 3. eFG of 57.1
Horrible defensively most likely.
He would be 4th for me.

Just off numbers I go Giannis, Jokic, Wemby, Luka. (there might be another couple who deserve to be in the convo as well that I dont know of) SGA is playing really well too but I dont have him with those 4. Maybe he rounds out the top 5

Yeah it's still jokic for me. I mean his last game was just, **** me wow, but you know, just another night for the joker. 33 pts, 16 assists, 15 rebounds, 3 steals and only 3 turnovers. 67% fg, 40% 3 pt, 88% ft. What? He is making a solid case for being top 5 NBA all-time, not just this year. Crazy. The most wild thing is this just doesn't hit hard enough because of how long he's been playing like this. You hear "wow Luka is on fire, 35 pts 13 assists, 9 rebounds, wow, with 5 steals, yeah he only shot 33% but man his best game of the season! MVP! MVP! Oh jokic with 33, 16, 15, 66% FG? Eh, doesn't he do that every night? yeah but look at Luka!" The man does not get the accolades he deserves honestly.

But you know, not to take anything from Luka. For me he's probably in the #3 spot, best start of his career, no doubt. Jokic is just on another planet. But he does have some company there for sure.
