Some positives were Ace, Key, Lauri, Collier and Brice coming back from the kennel club. Perfect tank game as Nurk and Svi kept chucking. It's hard to get a W when you shoot 40%.

that was fun A lot of good things throughout the game. Except for the amount of shots by Svi and Nurk but hey
I have never seen a team deferring on offense so much to such mediocre players as Svi and Nurk. Like, whose great idea was to run offense through them?!
On the other hand, it was soo cool to observe the growth of Ace. He is almost always in the right place on offense and defense and he really hustles. The way he plays is so unselfish and like a complete opposite of his first games on the Jazz. Ace will be a great player: smart, tough and playing both ends.

Maybe my expectations for a 5th pick are low, but I’ve seen a ton of things from Ace that I love to see in a rookie.
First of all, he’s really making an effort to blend into Hardy’s system. Quick decisions, lots of off-ball movement, setting screens, cutting during broken plays. The ball doesn’t stick with him, and he doesn't stop moving. I’m super excited about his future.
I’m happy to see him starting, but whenever he plays with the second unit, I’d love to see him take on more of that Lauri role. His skill set and movement fluidity are totally different from Lauri’s, so the shot distribution wouldn’t look the same, but that could actually add more variety to how we run the offense. His handle is really rough, but like Lauri, he can get a ton of quality looks with just one or two dribbles after the catch.

The problem is that his teammates are too selfish to get Ace involved. There's been so many times he's been the proper pass in the corner, proper cutter, or even on the outlet but guys would rather jack up terrible shots or get stuffed at the rim than let the rookie cook.
I get it, he's a rookie and has to earn his shots but I simply think that a few guys on this team are more worried about getting their own shot up than making the extra pass.

He's taken plenty of shots. He's rarely made them.
If you show you can score, the vets will give you the ball. If you show you'll jack up bad shots, they'll think twice.
Yeah, nothing better than watching those vets pass up the correct read to shoot a bad shot themselves. I mean 3-11 from the 3 from Svi shooting step backs is much better. Nurkic going 2-11 and shooting contested 3's is the leadership this team needs.

Most improved player is honestly my favorite award to follow and debate. MVP is usually too clear, CotY is a joke, DPotY is ambiguous like MIP but matters more so it is too contentious.
Anyways, we have some really good contenders so far this year with Deni Avdija, Josh Giddey, Keyonte George, Ryan Rollins, Jalen Duren, Austin Reaves. Excited to see who can keep it up.
