If we trade Lauri now I think we could definitely have a bottom 3 record meaning we would have a 40.1% chance at a top 3 pick and a 100% chance at keeping our pick.

If we don't trade Lauri it's more difficult to predict, but for now I'm going to say we end up with the 7th worst record. That would mean we would have a 23.4% chance at a top 3 pick and an 85.8% chance at keeping our pick.

So by Trading Lauri we can increase our chance at a potentially franchise changing player by 16.7% and increase our chance at a very good player by 14.2%.

I think the impact this year is what you outlined above. Its the impact next year and the year after that really change the thinking. I think Ryan and the FO are really feeling the pressure to not suck again next year. Whether you should make decisions based on that is a different question... but I really don't see us moving Lauri.

I would guess we see some back tightness soon if things don't start trending the right way. If Lauri is moved I think it has to be for something that is a premium asset. Like Kings picks, Pels picks, a Thompson twin... like I think it would have to be an absurd offer.

I think there is a portion of the fanbase that would check all the way out if we moved Lauri regardless of the return.

Cody's lack of confidence in his shot definitely seems to limit his upside to D only. Taylor though, I think its too early yet. Give him time to regain form and then we'll see. It is concerning that he seems to have gone backward on his motor...

Taylor never had a good motor or activity level. He's Cody with more muscle and a better jump-shot. They both really suck and both need massive leaps in their game to be NBA rotation players.

If you make up some numbers, like a top 3 pick has a 25% chance of being better than Lauri , then you are sitting at increasing your odds by 4% of getting something better than Lauri if you trade Lauri with the obvious downside of a huge chance the pick is never as good as Lauri.

I think TH moves fine for a PF. He also at least has good priors to being a good shooter. Cody was a bad shooting prospect. Both guys are fighting for their NBA careers though, no doubt.
