Following Potential 2026 Draftees

I wonder what the next evolution of this NCAA **** ery is going to be. Like what if Ousmane Dieng decides that instead of signing with an NBA team, he wants to play college ball. He could probably get paid more in the NCAA. Thunder get to keep his NBA RFA rights?

Have to find the giannis, jokics, jimmy butlers, karl malones, john stocktons, kahwi leonards, Donovan mitchells, rudy goberts, gordon haywards etc etc etc and develop them and retain them pretty much. Make trades for dudes like carlos boozer and mehmet okur.

People forget that the jazz never used to tank and yet always were in the playoffs.
and yet outside of s and m, never were contenders.

Ya but I enjoyed the great teams with dwill and booze and gobert and Mitchell.

I guess one of the things tanking has taught me is that I don't care about championships as much as most people.
I have learned that I love watching the jazz win lots of games and play great basketball with great players. Even if it doesn't result in a title.

Tanking sucks.

No, he's just like any stash player that has not signed with his team yet. He was actually part of the Towns trade.

I was curious about this last season. This seems to be the case that will set the precedent. There's nothing inherently different about playing in the NCAA vs an overseas pro league. Stash guys just didn't have the ability to get paid or have the eligibility in the NCAA to do so before. Now they do, so I expect this will become a thing.

Teams will now draft freshman (or other players with NCAA eligibility) and stash the in the NCAA until they are ready to sign them. The player gets paid through NIL, and will come up to the big leagues eventually if he gets good enough.
I believe Larry Bird was drafted by the Celtics then played another year for Indiana State. That was the same year they gave the Jazz draft pick to the Lakers. Same as ot ever was. . .

I deliberately hold back on doing draft assessments in order to have meaningful data, so I know I’m late, but holy **** Caleb Wilson is something else. I could probably talk myself into ranking him first in this class (and putting Boozer cleanly 4th).

1 - AJ (just kinda going with gut on this)
2 - Peterson (trusting the scouts here)
3 - Wilson (off-the-charts specimen and competitor, whose combination is what I think could make him the best player in this draft even though he doesn’t have the *highest* skill level right now. Can also play in a huge lineup as he seems comfortable defending SF-C and switching onto guards).
4 - Boozer (kind of a bad fit here and cannot anchor a defense; unquestionably has 1st-tier skill)

He jumps off the screen. I haven’t watched a full game with him but i keep hearing he’s a good passer too.

So if you read what I wrote, you'd see that he has physical tools, but isn't a physical player. Yeah, his blocks reflect this.

I completely disagree on the physical tools part. Dude does not even come close to comparing with one of most athletic bigs of all time or one of the most athletic current bigs….but the larger point is that we need to care more about how the basketball players play basketball.
