2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

I mean they are starting at pretty much zero. The last thing you do there is say "Hey first things first, let's Max freaking Walker Kessler."

They are in the "Let's take other teams Junk for assets" phase. You need to preserve cap for that.
Throw all convention out the window for the Bulls. Their moves are almost always incoherent.

Don't we have some swaps in there too?
Yes/sorta.

-2026: the Jazz have the rights to the best of the Jazz, Cavs, and Wolves 1st round picks if Utah’s pick does not convey to OKC
-2027: Jazz retain the 2nd best pick of the Jazz, Cavs, and Wolves picks.
-2028: Cavs swap rights
-2029: Jazz have the rights to the *two* best picks of the Jazz, Cavs, and Wolves.

Porzingis is done... He's got a weird disease bad enough that might force him to retire. Duren is staying in Detroit given how well they are doing. And Robinson is a backup center without much ceiling... so yeah teams will go for Walker
Mitchell Robinson is incredible. He's for sure a plus starter if he can stay healthy. But he does have health issues

Now we know that Washington, like the Jazz, won't be tanking next season. But what about the Nets? Could they sneak up on Giannis and grab him? Would be a wild move.

The Nets don’t own the rights to their 1st next year. So, like us (and Washington, it appears), they’ll probably put their foot on the gas next year. They might be a threat for Kessler but I would think they’d target other needs with their capspace.

I think they are the most likely to get Giannis. At least/especially if we’re not throwing the kitchen sink at that.
