Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

Can Okur come back % 100? If he can Okur-Jefferson-Millsap may work. Jefferson is as bad a defender as Boozer was but at least he is taller and brings more size to the table. He doesn't have very high basketbal IQ, and will not get the assists that Boozer got in the Jazz system. He will block more shots, maybe make a few more steals, rebound a little less, shoot a lowe rpercentage from the field and the line. Should Jazz fans be happy? We will have to see him in Sloan's system and with D-Will feeding him.

I like "Big Al". I thought that Utah should've drafted him (he went #15 after Krissy Humphries), and maybe this is why they are willing to nab him now, just like they nabbed Boozer after regretting about not drafting him (along with half the teams in the NBA). Looks like Minny is unloading him because he's more of a post player, not a triangle-offense guy. Too bad Rambis is too inflexible to adapt the offense to his players, rather than vice-versa.

At draft time, AJ was a high-schooler, and Utah was probably leery after their underwhelming experience with DeShawn Stevenson. But AJ seemed to be less of a "hopper" than DS, and ironically, K-Hump turned into a bit of a headcase anyway after being an unjustified epicenter of the offense at the University of Minnesota for a single season--one measly year more than the taller Jefferson.

If Jefferson's past injuries don't bother him, I could see him be modestly better to Boozer in short order. At a slightly cheaper price.

Just show me effort on defense, Big Al, and you will win my adoration over Boozer. "Regardless."

At draft time, AJ showed a 2-inch better maximum vertical than boozer and a similar 3/4-court speed but much slower lane agility.

I am SHOCKED that Booze showed such a good lane agility because he barely moves his feet on D.

What a waste of talent. If Boozer weren't such a selfish ******* (and I'm talking defense and stats, not salary), even by NBA standards, Utah could've gone farther. I can see AK-PM-AJ as a very nice frontcourt on both ends of the floor.

Looking at Boozers and Jefferson's stats on NBA.com:
Boozer is much more likely to score 25+ points, get to the line, and score ~10pt against the lakers (looked at just last seasons games)
Jefferson gets his 17ppg more or less every game. But not as many big scoring games. Goes to the line ~ 1/2 of boozer.
Boozer has a lot more assists (3+ to 1 ish) Is that the Wolves vs Jazz system or is Jefferson not a good passer?
As all of you noted before Boozer is pick and roll, pick and pop. Jefferson is that jump hook thingy. (more typical post game)

One of the playoff 'flaws' of CB and Karl Malone is that they go to the hole well and get AND1 opportunities a plenty... in the regular season. Those don't come so plentiful in the playoffs.

I think this (fingers crossed) acquisition is great in that
Financial Cost is in Jazz favor
Change of Boozer+Millsap to Jefferson+Millsap is in Jazz favor (2 different players rather than two identical players on offense)
Change of Boozer+Millsap to Jefferson+Millsap is in Jazz favor (defensively against the right teams)
Change for change sake is in the JazzFanz forum favor - it at least makes it appear that the Jazz are active and we quit hatin so much
But really, was the Boozer+Millsap going to work? We saw it is not, so a chance with another arrangment could be good.
The possibility of Fes actually playing decent with Fes, Jefferson, AK on the front line would be good to experiment with as well... as i put on my Jazz colored glasses... for going against the right teams (LAL)

And if this does pan out it shows that losing a player and gaining even cap space and especially a trade exception means all this talk of losing Boozer for "nothing" was not true.

He is going to get less shots here though. 19-20ppg

It appears from the game to game stats on NBA.com that Boozer got a lot more shots than AJ. I don't see why he'd not get equal to his Twolve #. If he doesn't get as many as Booze that would be good, becuase it would imply the whole Jazz team is picking up slack somewhere. Boozer was relied on heavily on offense... we'll see if AJ is needed as much.

Can anyone comment that the Jazz are particularly good at developing post players. I think its actually hard to assess when you've only really had 3 in the last 28 years. Without a doubt in my mind the Jazz system makes role players good here, but will AJ's game have a notable increase comming here?

That money makes me very, very nervous. The majority of our cap will be tied up in Al, Deron, Sap, and Memo for the next couple of years-it's a good core, but is it a title winning core?

On the other hand....I've always wanted to see Jefferson in a Jazz jersey...

It'll keep the Jazz competitive, but realistically, I don't see it as the roster being substantially different with Jefferson instead of Boozer. I'm not a huge fan of this potential move, but at least it isn't Brand, I guess.

This all happened a little to quickly I'm starting to think. I remember Minny had high interest in Ante Tomic.....did KOC panic and throw in Tomic, mortaging the future, to appease Deron?
