Why are liberals so annoying?

I consider myself VERY socially progressive. Most of my friends are politically indifferent, but hold liberal-leaning views (typical in scientific fields). However, I know some moderate Mormons that I consider conservative leaning, and a couple of Berkeley types hyper liberals. Out of all the groups that I know, the latter is the one that annoys me the most. I don't hang out with any hardcore conservatives, so I don't know much about their personality. But the discussions I get into with my hard-left friends blow my ****ing mind. Here is a sample of discussions I've had in the past week.

Yesterday, I spent an hour arguing that white people are not specially racist (current generation). But they'd hear none of it. White people are terrible racists. End of story! A few days earlier, I had to defend the idea that human beings are far more intelligent than any other species on earth. You would think that this is so damn obvious, that it would be beyond reasonable discussion. But nope, not to them. Just look how intelligent that dog is! He totally understands what I'm saying. That's a good boy.

That is not to mention the countless debates on how awesome communism is. Or the endless bitching about this technology or that (nuclear power, GM crops, etc).

I thought I'd share. :-D

That is the problem with liberals (which I think is different than a left leaning individual). They know better than you. No matter what it is, they know how you should behave and what you should do better than you do.

It's fair to say both extremities have their flaws. Very conservative people are extremely narrowed minded and think they are the only people on the earth while very liberal people are extremely open minded and believe the world is corrupt. I guess in some sense both are entitled to their own opinion but when someone tells me they're "VERY" liberal or conservative, it makes me laugh

That's pretty funny, SiroMar. Do you think it's because you relate to them more than conservatives and have closer comradere that they come off more annoying? Like you expect better of them?

So much so that their brain has fallen out... They are only very opened minded until you disagree with them.

That's probably true at some level. But I think there is something inherently annoying about them nevertheless. When conservatives say something I find absurd, it usually comes off as paranoid and divisive. Liberals come off as smug and dismissive. I deal with liberals far more, so I'm angry at them much more often.

You need to be more transparent and divulge the age group you are interacting with. This sounds like stereotypical undergrad love for relativism.
